Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Clayton Atkinson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quincy McBonebrook! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Atkins and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Atkinson moves away from the strike by McBonebrook. Atkinson throws a right and a left that both miss. McBonebrook's coach down at Vegas Campania was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on McBonebrook's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Atkinson scores with a slapping inside leg kick. McBonebrook fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
McBonebrook gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. McBonebrook pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. McBonebrook throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
That kick from Atkinson tenderised McBonebrook's leg. McBonebrook is trying to keep his angry face on. Atkinson moves out of range as McBonebrook strikes. Atkinson lands with a nice body punch. Nice shot by Atkinson. Atkinson definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Atkinson walks into a left hand. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! McBonebrook takes a swing at Atkinson's ribcage but misses. McBonebrook tries to clinch up and Atkinson counters with an inside leg kick. Quincy McBonebrook seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Atkinson lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. A cross from Atkinson lands. McBonebrook throws a head kick but Atkinson moves out of range.

No joy there for McBonebrook, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
McBonebrook lands an overhand right. McBonebrook closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. A nice left hand lands by McBonebrook.
McBonebrook lands an uppercut. McBonebrook wants to take the fight to the mat but Atkinson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. McBonebrook breaks the clinch.
Atkinson keeps the fight on the outside. Atkinson throws a leg kick but McBonebrook checks it. McBonebrook throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Atkinson throws a counter high kick but McBonebrook was just alert enough to avoid it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McBonebrook misses with a jab, cross combination.
McBonebrook forces Atkinson back against the cage and clinches. McBonebrook misses with an elbow over the top. McBonebrook misses with a hook from the clinch. McBonebrook is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Atkinson gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. McBonebrook avoids a wild elbow strike from Atkinson. McBonebrook gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Atkinson regains guard.
McBonebrook would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. McBonebrook trying to control the position from guard on top but Atkinson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. McBonebrook stops Atkinson from standing up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McBonebrook throws an elbow that misses. Atkinson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in McBonebrook's guard. Nice move by Atkinson!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Atkinson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. McBonebrook has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Atkinson has passed into side control.
McBonebrook tries to buck Atkinson off but Atkinson is having none of it. Atkinson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Atkinson scores with punches from side control. Atkinson lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. McBonebrook is not content to let Atkinson control the position. Atkinson grinds an elbow into McBonebrook's temple.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Atkinson decides to stand back up. Atkinson lands with a good body shot. McBonebrook throws the kick towards the body but Atkinson avoids it. Atkinson half committed to a counter leg kick. A solid body kick from Atkinson. A thudding body kick lands there by McBonebrook!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. McBonebrook fakes the leg kick and cracks Atkinson in the body. McBonebrook drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. McBonebrook clinches with his opponent.
McBonebrook is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Atkinson is defending well. Clayton Atkinson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quincy McBonebrook. With the fighters clinched against the cage, McBonebrook creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Atkinson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. McBonebrook tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Atkinson's elbow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Quincy McBonebrook will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
McBonebrook has Atkinson up against the cage in a clinch.
McBonebrook with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Atkinson's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! McBonebrook tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Atkinson's elbow. Atkinson is looking to break free of the clinch but McBonebrook has double underhooks. A body shot lands from McBonebrook.
McBonebrook misses with a hook to the ribs.
Atkinson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Atkinson thows a body kick. McBonebrook tries to catch it but that hurt him. Clayton Atkinson is winning the standup battle so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Atkinson lands a big head kick that sends McBonebrook tumbling to the mat! Atkinson takes a step backwards and waves McBonebrook back to his feet - he wants the finish!
McBonebrook is rocked!
It looks like Quincy McBonebrook has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Atkinson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McBonebrook is still on wobbly legs! Can Atkinson finish him? McBonebrook misses with a kick to the body.
Atkinson fires out a quick counter leg kick but McBonebrook just manages to avoid it. McBonebrook seems to have recovered his senses. McBonebrook fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Atkinson's hands are dropping dangerously low here and McBonebrook connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Atkinson scrambles back to his feet. BOOM! Atkinson lands a beautiful left hook that drops McBonebrook. McBonebrook tries to recover but Atkinson is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and McBonebrook lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
