The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hauenstein has closed the distance and engaged Hernandez in a clinch.
Hernandez looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! A nice glancing elbow lands by Hernandez. Hernandez breaks from the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Hernandez. No joy for Hauenstein on that attempt. Hernandez closes the distance but Hauenstein moves to the side and Hauenstein counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hernandez! Hauenstein looking to control but Hernandez is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Hauenstein is stalling here but it's allowed Hernandez to get half guard.
Hauenstein is looking for a kimura but Hernandez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hauenstein to get the leverage. Hauenstein is tying to control. Hernandez wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Hauenstein is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Hauenstein is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hauenstein looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hernandez is refusing to be controlled, as Hauenstein sits in half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Hauenstein slips a nice elbow through Hernandez's hands, connecting with Hernandez's forehead. Hauenstein is tying to control. Hernandez wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Hauenstein is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Hernandez is looking for a sweep. Hauenstein is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Hauenstein trying to control from half guard but Hernandez is working away. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Hernandez tries to roll over but Hauenstein keeps him under control. Hauenstein wants to take a breather but Hernandez is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hernandez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Hauenstein controlling the pace.
Despite being in the dominant position, Harald Hauenstein just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hernandez doesn't succeed with the takedown and Hauenstein counters with a single leg into guard. Hernandez didn't expect that. Hauenstein trying to control but Hernandez is working from the bottom. Hernandez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Hernandez manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Hauenstein is looking to get to half guard. Hauenstein bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Harald Hauenstein dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
No joy there for Hernandez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hauenstein tries to clinch but Hernandez moves out of range. Hauenstein gets the takedown into side control. Hauenstein passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Hernandez! Hauenstein has control of Hernandez's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Hernandez regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Hernandez is squirming around, avoiding Hauenstein's attempts to control the action. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hernandez is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Hernandez tries to reverse the position but Hauenstein maintains control. Hernandez is trying to stand up. Hauenstein wants to control the pace but Hernandez is squirming around nicely. Hauenstein looking to isolate an arm here. Hernandez doesn't see it coming and as Hauenstein extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Hauenstein!
