Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Max Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryu Madeira!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Leandro Rodrigues and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Madeira throws a sloppy head kick and Johnson moves out of range easily.

Madeira bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Johnson is looking to reverse the position.
Madeira tries to score with some ground and pound. Johnson controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Johnson is not content to let Madeira control the position.
Madeira is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Madeira tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Johnson gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Madeira working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Johnson's thigh. Johnson counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Madeira trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Johnson pulls Madeira in close to his closed guard and prevents Madeira from doing any damage or advancing position.
Madeira stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Johnson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Johnson thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Madeira wants to stand but Johnson is controlling his posture from full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Johnson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Madeira counters with a good low kick that Johnson was not able to check.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Madeira lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Johnson!

Madeira wants to control but Johnson is keeping him busy.

Johnson is breathing heavily.
Madeira trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ryu Madeira will probably get the nod.

Johnson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Madeira is controlling Johnson's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Madeira has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Johnson is working away from the top position though.

Johnson is working for a submission of some sort.

Johnson controlling the pace.
Madeira wants to sweep but Johnson has passed to side control!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
You can see the frustration on Madeira's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Madeira tries to buck Johnson off but Johnson is having none of it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Johnson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Madeira counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Madeira thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Madeira wants to control but Johnson is keeping him busy.
Madeira controlling the action here.
Johnson is pressing down on Madeira's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Madeira is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Johnson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Madeira controls the pace.

Ryu Madeira showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Johnson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Madeira, who protects the arm well.
Johnson tries to advance to mount but Madeira denies him.
Madeira wants to control but Johnson postures up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Despite being in the dominant position, Ryu Madeira just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Madeira should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Johnson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Madeira connects with a decent elbow.
Madeira trying to control the action but Johnson is working from the bottom.
Johnson is looking to reverse the position.
Madeira wants to control but Johnson is keeping him busy.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Madeira has eaten all the pies!
Johnson can't do much from the bottom here.

Johnson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Madeira wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Madeira is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Johnson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Johnson gets a takedown into half guard.
Madeira tries to roll over but Johnson keeps him under control.
Madeira is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
Max Johnson showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Madeira has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
