Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyson Evans! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darrill Martin! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Evans shoots in but Martin avoids the takedown attempt easily. Martin throws a right and a left that both miss. Evans closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Evans lands in his opponent's guard. Martin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Evans doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Evans manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Martin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Evans is one step ahead there. Martin trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Martin avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Evans trying to stand up but can't free himself from Martin's guard. Martin looking for a sweep. Not yet Martin, not yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Martin is working an open guard so Evans takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Evans throws a head kick that misses. Evans takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Martin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Evans shoots in but Martin avoids the takedown attempt easily. Martin misses with a two punch combination.
Darrill Martin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Evans tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Martin swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyson Evans. That's going to take a lot out of him. Evans is breathing heavily. Martin lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Martin.
It looks like Tyson Evans has been cut. Evans takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Martin cracks Evans with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Evans falls to his knees and Martin doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
