Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Terry Hopper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gabriel Danut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Terry Hopper has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Terry Hopper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gabriel Danut!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Chad Campbell and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Danut fails with the takedown
and Hopper connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
The fighters circle momentarily. Danut darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Horrible takedown attempt by Hopper or perhaps it was just good defense by Danut, which made it look bad.
Hopper darts in looking for a takedown but Danut gets double underhooks and turns Hopper into the cage.
Danut wants to counter the offense by Hopper and move into the clinch position.

Danut clinches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hopper keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Danut's efforts to push away.
Hopper wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Danut prevents a body shot from Hopper.

Danut pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Hopper gets tackled into the cage by Danut. Danut maintains the clinch.
Danut is working for takedown but Hopper is calmly controlling the position for now.
Danut wants to take the fight to the mat but Hopper manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Terry Hopper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gabriel Danut.

Danut is looking to break free of the clinch but Hopper has double underhooks.
Danut is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Danut jumps guard but Hopper turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Hopper breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Danut has taken the fight to the clinch.
Hopper has Danut pressed against the cage, preventing Danut from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Hopper successfully pulls guard.
Danut looking to sit in guard and control but Hopper gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Danut is adopting a defensive guard.

Danut has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hopper can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hopper is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Danut is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Danut has momentary wrist control but Hopper slips an elbow through the middle.
Hopper is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Hopper lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hopper postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Hopper makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Hopper really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Hopper gets to his feet. Danut looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Hopper shoots in and gets a takedown into Danut's guard.
Hopper is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hopper with a nice head shot there.
Hopper slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hopper will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hopper drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Danut looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Danut not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hopper is stalling in the full guard.

Danut can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hopper controls the pace.
Terry Hopper overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hopper lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Hopper gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Hopper displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Danut.

Hopper closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Danut did well to prevent Hopper getting side control.
Hopper working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hopper lands a nice short elbow.

Hopper with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Hopper has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hopper drops an elbow to the side of Danut's head.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hopper connects with a nice short shot to Danut's temple.

Hopper is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Danut can do to turn this around?

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Hopper looks for a takedown but Danut sprawls well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Hopper bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Danut is letting Hopper control him for a moment.

Hopper has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Hopper connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Danut some visible discomfort.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hopper is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Danut is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Danut takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Danut wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Danut is looking to reverse the position.

Danut darts in looking for a takedown but Hopper gets double underhooks and turns Danut into the cage.

Hopper cracks Danut with a big right hand but Danut just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Hopper lands a nice forearm strike.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Danut takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Hopper lands a few punches from side control.
Hopper controls the position.

Danut struggling a bit here.

Hopper is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Danut knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hopper, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
