The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hightower connects with a leg kick. Spong looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Hightower looks to score with a jab to the body but Spong is just out of range.
Spong fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hightower avoids it really well and circles away.
Spong uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hightower.
Hightower scores with a jab to the jaw.
Spong looks to clinch
and Hightower counters with a stiff right hand.
Hightower throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hightower pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Spong with the counter takedown but Hightower avoids it easily.
Spong looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Hightower waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Spong. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Spong to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hightower cracks Spong with a solid left hand.
Hightower works over Spong with some ground and pound from guard.
Hightower loads up on a big left hand. Spong felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Hightower looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Spong can't hide his disappointment, as Hightower celebrates the victory.
