Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mountain Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anton Gedewell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anton Gedewell is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 80 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mountain Rivera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Anton Gedewell!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivera will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Rivera darts in trying to clinch
and Gedewell counters with a left and a right that stings Rivera.

Rivera gets tackled into the cage by Gedewell. Gedewell maintains the clinch.

Gedewell wants to get back to his feet but Rivera is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Rivera tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Gedewell defends well and Rivera ends up having to push Gedewell into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Gedewell looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Rivera tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Gedewell avoids it.

Rivera drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gedewell pulls his leg out and moves away.
Gedewell throws a combination. Rivera tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Gedewell goes for a double leg but Rivera avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rivera continues to drive forward.
Gedewell lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Rivera throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gedewell's waist but Gedewell gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rivera off to one side.

Gedewell pushes Rivera back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Rivera can't get the takedown.
Rivera is breathing heavily.
Gedewell prevents a takedown attempt there.
Gedewell blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Rivera jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gedewell walks away with a smile on his face. Rivera gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Gedewell tries to bum rush Rivera with a series of wild strikes but Rivera uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Gedewell gets in close and instigates a clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rivera is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Gedewell to keep the fight standing.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Gedewell takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Gedewell scores with a hook to the body.
Rivera is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Gedewell is defending well for now.
Gedewell is trying to force a seperation but Rivera has the dominant position.
Rivera has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Gedewell after a bit of a struggle.
Gedewell is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Rivera tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Gedewell smiles and moves away.

Gedewell clinches.
Gedewell digs a right hand underneath Rivera's ribcage. Rivera let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Rivera is trying to pull guard but Gedewell turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



The fight moves into the clinch position.

Gedewell gets control of Rivera's arms and successfully pulls guard. Gedewell will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gedewell can do anything to dispel that myth.
Gedewell is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Gedewell is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Rivera keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Gedewell's head.
Gedewell is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rivera is controlling him.

Gedewell throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Riveras head.
A right handed body shot lands from Gedewell.
Gedewell tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Gedewell works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Gedewell controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Gedewell's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gedewell wants to stand and escape but instead Rivera has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Gedewell has control of Rivera's left arm, preventing Rivera from doing any damage.
Let's hope that Gedewell has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Gedewell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rivera. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gedewell throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rivera tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gedewell is in Rivera's guard.

Rivera manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Rivera looks for a takedown but Gedewell sprawls well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gedewell lands with a straight right. Rivera didn't see that one coming.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rivera tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Gedewell manages to circle out of the way.

Rivera tries to stall but Gedewell uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Gedewell tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Rivera's elbow.

Rivera breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Gedewell shoots in for a takedown but Rivera shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Gedewell is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rivera is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Anton Gedewell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Gedewell scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Rivera closes the distance but Gedewell moves to the side
and Gedewell counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Rivera shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gedewell as he avoids it easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Rivera shoots in for a takedown but Gedewell shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Rivera throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gedewell works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Gedewell wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Gedewell lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rivera circles away quickly and effectively.
As Gedewell tries to get set, Rivera tries to push him back and clinch up but Gedewell manages to avoid the attempt.

Gedewell drives through and clinches with Rivera against the cage.
A body shot lands from Gedewell.

Gedewell escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rivera takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Mountain Rivera has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Gedewell shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Rivera is trying to defend but Gedewell finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Gedewell perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Gedewell tries to pass the half guard into mount. Rivera knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Rivera gets back to full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well Gedewell has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
