Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frederic Joyner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pappa Smurf! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Reed Andrews and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smurf bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Joyner's head backwards. Smurf lands with an overhand left. Smurf lands with a good body shot. Nice body punch from Smurf. Smurf clobbers Joyner with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Smurf connects with a body shot that sends Joyner's belly button to the back. A jab from Smurf does it's job there. Smurf scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Smurf lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Joyner at a distance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Smurf scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Joyner doesn't seem bothered though. Smurf works Joyner's body with a nice hook. Smurf connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Joyner could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Smurf's corner calls for a 1-2. Smurf obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smurf works the jab nicely. Smurf's jab looks to have found its range, popping Joyner under the eye. Smurf lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Pappa Smurf seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Smurf lands with a good body shot. Smurf lands the left hand. Joyner looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Smurf lands with a straight right. Joyner didn't see that one coming.
Joyner is rocked! Smurf lands a nice shot to the body.
Smurf stuns Joyner with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Joyner takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Oh Joyner is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Smurf lands a body shot.
Joyner is breathing heavily. Smurf scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Smurf lands an overhand right. Smurf drops Joyner with a huge uppercut! Joyner drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Smurf is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pappa Smurf!
