Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Maki Kamiya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Peevey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Maki Kamiya! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Peevey! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Anthony Taglia and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kamiya fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Peevey looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Peevey takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Kamiya scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Peevey doesn't seem bothered though. Peevey closes the distance and clinches. Peevey takes a knee to the side of the body. Peevey dodges an elbow strike from Kamiya.
Peevey tries to pull guard but Kamiya holds him up against the cage and eventually Peevey drops back down to his feet.
Peevey wants a takedown but no success here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Peevey is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kamiya gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Maki Kamiya has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Peevey. Kamiya is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Peevey is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kamiya pulls him back up using the underhooks. Kamiya really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peevey is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Kamiya is defending well. Kamiya scores a nice knee to the body.
Peevey drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kamiya lands a left hand that snaps the head of Peevey backwards. Peevey blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Peevey is looking to take this one to the mat. Kamiya working Peevey over with knees to the body. Peevey is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Kamiya misses with an elbow strike.
Kamiya comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kamiya throws a punch but it's blocked by Peevey. Kamiya lands a damaging elbow. Peevey takes a knee to the side of the body. Kamiya misses with an elbow over the top. A frustrated look appears on Kamiya's face as he tries to break the clinch. Kamiya lands a good knee to the midsection. Peevey won't want to take too many of those. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A nice glancing elbow lands by Kamiya. Kamiya tries to land knees in the clinch but Peevey avoids the damage to the body. Kamiya is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Peevey is defending well for now. Peevey blocks the elbow strike.
Kamiya unloads a knee to the mid-section. Kamiya prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peevey pulls guard successfully.
Our spies down at at Kalashnikov MMA Gym inform us that Peevey has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Peevey wants to sweep here but Kamiya controlling him for the moment. Peevey keeping full guard, as Kamiya tries to pass. Kamiya trying to control but Peevey is working from the bottom. Kamiya loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Kamiya being controlled here momentarily. Kamiya in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Kamiya stands and throws Peevey's legs to the side, diving into side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Peevey can do anything to dispel that myth. Kamiya wants to stand but Peevey has his arm trapped. Kamiya tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Peevey is trying to get back to half guard. You can see the frustration on Peevey's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Kamiya tries to stand but Peevey is controlling his head. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Kamiya taking a breather here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Maki Kamiya dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Peevey scores with a shot to the body.
Kamiya lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Peevey shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kamiya as he avoids it easily. Peevey shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Kamiya makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Kamiya tries to avoid it but Peevey manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kamiya to the ground. Kamiya escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's one minute gone in the round. Kamiya throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Peevey changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kamiya tries to avoid it but Peevey manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kamiya to the ground. Kamiya escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. A head kick by Kamiya misses and Peevey counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Peevey throwing strikes from guard but Kamiya blocks nicely. Peevey is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Peevey is looking to work some ground and pound but Kamiya has wrist control. Kamiya trying to keep a closed guard but Peevey is proving a slippery customer.
Peevey makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Peevey lands a couple of decent looking shots.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Peevey wants to control from the top but Kamiya keeps moving. Kamiya working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Peevey. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Peevey with a nice head shot there. Kamiya not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Kamiya defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Peevey. Kamiya connects with a body shot. Kamiya cracks Peevey with an open hand slap. Peevey changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kamiya tries to avoid it but Peevey manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kamiya to the ground. Kamiya escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Peevey is breathing heavily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Good leg kick by Kamiya there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kamiya buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kamiya drops Peevey with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Peevey looks back up at him and smiles so Kamiya waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Peevey is rocked! Kamiya lands a big right hand that sends Peevey crashing to the mat! Kamiya stays standing though and waves Peevey back to his feet! Peevey is still on wobbly legs! Can Kamiya finish him? The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kamiya lands a nice looking body kick. Kamiya fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Peevey to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Peevey looks to clinch but Kamiya throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Peevey taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Maki Kamiya! Maki Kamiya retains his bantamweight title! Maki Kamiya decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
