Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Houston Acosta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trent Tarkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Houston Acosta! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Trent Tarkin! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Colin Fray and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A low kick from Tarkin misses and Acosta counters with a takedown into side control. Tarkin is looking for a sweep. Tarkin manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Tarkin stops Acosta from getting back to his feet.
Tarkin tries to pass the half guard into mount. Acosta knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Tarkin decides to stand and escape the position. Tarkin scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Tarkin looks up at the clock and then as Acosta takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Tarkin smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Acosta is looking for a sweep. Acosta is trying to get back to his feet. Tarkin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Acosta keeps working. Tarkin advances to full mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tarkin lands with some strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tarkin with the ground and pound from mount. Acosta is squirming around, avoiding Tarkin's attempts to control the action. Tarkin stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Trent Tarkin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Acosta looks for the body kick but Tarkin saw that one coming. Tarkin shoots in and bounces Acosta off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Acosta kicks Tarkin off and gets to his feet. Tarkin scores with a shot to the body.
Acosta gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Tarkin wants to control from the top but Acosta keeps moving. Tarkin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Acosta escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tarkin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Acosta throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Tarkin trying to control the position from guard on top but Acosta is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Tarkin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Acosta punching to the body, from the bottom. Tarkin trying to control the position from guard on top but Acosta is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Tarkin passes into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Acosta is in trouble now - Tarkin has advanced to mount! Tarkin looks winded! Acosta is working to get back to half guard.
Acosta is squirming around, avoiding Tarkin's attempts to control the action. Tarkin jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Acosta manages to avoid the submission attempt. Tarkin tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Acosta tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Tarkin wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Tarkin sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Acosta is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Tarkin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Acosta is not content to let Tarkin control the position. Acosta tries to get back to half guard but can't. Tarkin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Acosta really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Acosta regains half guard. Acosta is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Tarkin pulls his head out easily. Acosta is trying to stand.
Tarkin lands strikes from half guard. Tarkin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Acosta is just riding it out for now. Tarkin eventually gives up the hold. Tarkin blocks the strikes from Acosta.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Trent Tarkin dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Tarkin darts in and clinches Acosta up against the cage. Tarkin has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Acosta is trying to keep an underhook but Tarkin manages to get the takedown into half guard. Tarkin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Acosta doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tarkin. Acosta wants to get back to his feet.
Tarkin lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Acosta wants to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tarkin trying to control the action but Acosta is working from the bottom. Tarkin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Acosta defends it well.

Tarkin scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Acosta is trying to stand.
Tarkin lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Tarkin is pressing down on Acosta's thigh, looking to free his foot. Acosta is holding on for now. Tarkin has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Acosta misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Acosta slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Tarkin is breathing heavily. Tarkin working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Acosta's head. Tarkin trying to control the position from guard on top but Acosta is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Tarkin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tarkin pushing down on Acosta's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Acosta missing with punches from the bottom.
Tarkin is trying for a kimura here. Acosta looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Tarkin wins by kimura!
