Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frankie Hanson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimmy DiPanza! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! DiPanza drives through and clinches with Hanson against the cage.
Hanson is looking to take this one to the mat. DiPanza avoiding damage as Hanson throws knees to the body.
Hanson manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. DiPanza postures up in Hanson's guard and throws a big left but Hanson blocks it. DiPanza would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. DiPanza sitting in guard here, content to control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hanson is pulling down on DiPanza's head. It's preventing any offense from DiPanza, at least for the moment. Hanson wants to sweep but no luck. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. DiPanza wants to control from the top but Hanson keeps moving. Hanson has his hands on DiPanza's head, controlling the position. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. DiPanza pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hanson is keeping the position for now.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. DiPanza shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Hanson is trying to control but can't.
DiPanza passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Hanson! DiPanza looking for a guillotine from mount but Hanson is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hanson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Hanson wants to control but DiPanza is having none of it. DiPanza scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Hanson?
DiPanza is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Hanson has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Hanson! DiPanza throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Hanson escapes and throws DiPanza's legs to the side, diving into side control!
That's three minutes gone in the round. DiPanza manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! DiPanza is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hanson has managed to free his arm - good work. Hanson is trying to defend against the ground and pound but DiPanza scores with a couple of nice shots. Hanson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. DiPanza wants to stand but Hanson is controlling his posture from full guard. Hanson trying to keep a closed guard but DiPanza is proving a slippery customer.
DiPanza controls from within his opponent's guard. DiPanza trying to control but Hanson is working from the bottom. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! DiPanza being controlled here momentarily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jimmy DiPanza dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
DiPanza throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hanson was covering up waiting for the punch and DiPanza finishes the takedown easily into guard. Hanson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. DiPanza stopping the sweep attempt from Hanson. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hanson pulls DiPanza in close to his closed guard and prevents DiPanza from doing any damage or advancing position. Hanson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Hanson really is a fat lump.
That's one minute gone in the round. DiPanza is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Hanson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. DiPanza pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hanson is keeping the position for now. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for DiPanza. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. DiPanza trying to control but Hanson is working from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hanson gets tackled into the cage by DiPanza. DiPanza maintains the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Hanson has DiPanza pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. DiPanza manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. DiPanza is defending well against a takedown attempt. DiPanza is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Hanson can't fight it off and eventually DiPanza manages to take the fight to the floor. Hanson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. DiPanza trying to control but Hanson is working from the bottom. DiPanza has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Hanson has his hands on DiPanza's head, controlling the position. Hanson keeping full guard, as DiPanza tries to pass.
That's three minutes gone in the round. DiPanza trying to control but Hanson is working from the bottom. Hanson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. DiPanza wants to control from the top but Hanson keeps moving. Hanson working for a triangle but DiPanza defends it easily.
DiPanza stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hanson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Jimmy DiPanza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. DiPanza drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hanson regains half guard. DiPanza seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hanson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Hanson is trying to control but can't.
DiPanza is pressing down on Hanson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hanson is holding on for now. Hanson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from DiPanza. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! DiPanza bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. DiPanza throws an elbow but Hanson slips to the side and avoids it well. DiPanza stands up. Hanson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by DiPanza. DiPanza throws out a counter right but Hanson avoids it with no problem. DiPanza shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hanson is trying to defend but DiPanza finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. DiPanza seems to be working for a kimura but Hanson defends the submission attempt. Hanson is trying to maintain the position but DiPanza is very close to passing his half guard.

DiPanza looking to sit in guard and control but Hanson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. DiPanza working a defensive guard but Hanson manages to pass into side control anyway.
DiPanza holds on to Hanson's head and controls the position momentarily. DiPanza struggling a bit here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. DiPanza tries to buck Hanson off but Hanson is having none of it. Hanson working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Hanson moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Jimmy DiPanza has got the better of the ground game so far. You can see the frustration on DiPanza's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. DiPanza is trying to get back to his feet. DiPanza tries to buck Hanson off but Hanson is having none of it. Hanson working the body and head with strikes. DiPanza is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. DiPanza trying to control from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. DiPanza throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. DiPanza takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

DiPanza working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. DiPanza sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Hanson is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Nice work. Frankie Hanson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jimmy DiPanza is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. DiPanza wants to stand but Hanson has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
