Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jim Beckett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arjen Franck Robbery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 18 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Arjen Franck Robbery!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robbery misses with an attempted mid kick.
Beckett attempts a counter takedown but Robbery avoids it well and moves away.
Arjen Franck Robbery seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Beckett misses with a wild body shot.
Robbery takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Beckett moves out of range of the body kick from Robbery.
Beckett bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Beckett lands a front kick.
Beckett throws a wild body kick that Robbery sees coming a mile off.
Good work by Beckett as he checks the leg kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Robbery. Beckett does a little dance to reset his feet.
Robbery is looking to clinch but Beckett is avoiding it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Robbery throws a quick inside leg kick.

Beckett shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Beckett lands a nice short elbow.

Robbery wants to sweep but Beckett has passed to side control!
Robbery manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Robbery is thwarting Beckett's attempts to control the position.
Robbery content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Beckett trying to hold on to Robbery's head to control him but Robbery postures up.
Robbery is keen to just control but Beckett is a slippery customer.

Robbery is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Beckett is trying to get back to full guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Robbery is trying to control. Beckett wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Robbery works his way into full mount!

Robbery can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Beckett is looking to escape.

Robbery throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Poor strikes thrown by Robbery there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Robbery misses with a head shot.
Robbery has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Beckett is trying desperately to improve position.
Robbery looking to control but Beckett is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Robbery tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Robbery prevents Beckett from getting the reversal.

Robbery lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Beckett avoids a series of strikes thrown by Robbery.
Robbery tries to control but Beckett wriggling away.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Robbery cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Arjen Franck Robbery dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A looping hook to the body misses from Beckett. Robbery does a little dance to reset his feet.
Beckett lands a nice hook to Robbery's body. Robbery takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Robbery fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Beckett, pushing him back against the cage.
Robbery lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Robbery misses with some punches.

Beckett manages to pull guard.
Robbery landing with the ground and pound.
Beckett is trying to keep Robbery in close.
Robbery wants to control from the top but Beckett keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Robbery showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Robbery stands up over Beckett, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Robbery throws a strike but Beckett rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Beckett is sitting in close to Robbery's body. Robbery has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Beckett is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Beckett is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Robbery.
