Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Johnny Mickey Sarady! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juan Juan! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Daniel Cesar and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Juan throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sarady sees it coming and avoids it easily. Sarady tries to counter with a takedown but Juan is quick to defend against it. Juan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sarady to the mat! Sarady manages to get full guard. Juan pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sarady is keeping the position for now. Juan works a leg free and moves into half guard. Juan trying to mount his opponent but Sarady defends it. Juan is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Juan wants to control from the top but Sarady keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sarady is trying to control the position but Juan postures up. Juan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Juan wants to control from the top but Sarady keeps moving. Juan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sarady swivels though and keeps the full guard. Juan trying to control the position from guard on top but Sarady is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Juan drops back, looking for a kneebar! Sarady looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Sarady looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Sarady! Juan tries to improve position but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sarady gets to mount! Juan was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sarady is standing up, even though he is in mount. Juan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sarady sprawls well. Sarady wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Juan gets slowly back to his feet. Juan fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sarady gets caught flat footed, as Juan shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Sarady keeping full guard, as Juan tries to pass. Juan trying to control but Sarady is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Juan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Sarady wants to sweep here but Juan controlling him for the moment.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Sarady forces Juan back against the cage and clinches. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Juan goes for a takedown attempt but Sarady pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Johnny Mickey Sarady has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Juan Juan. Sarady is looking to clinch. Juan throws an overhand right that lands on Sarady's shoulder, as Sarady tries to avoid the shot. Sarady tries to counter by clinching up but Juan breaks away and moves out of range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Juan Juan will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Juan drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Juan pushing down on Sarady's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Juan frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Juan is trying to take his opponent's back.
Juan has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Juan tries to control but Sarady wriggling away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Juan jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Sarady is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Sarady and Juan has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sarady prevents Juan from moving into mount. Juan wants to control but Sarady is keeping him busy. Juan goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Sarady has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Juan but great work by Sarady. Sarady slows the pace down. Juan is looking to reverse the position. Juan is not content to let Sarady control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Juan wants to control but Sarady postures up. Juan is looking to reverse the position. Sarady happy to just control the position for now. Juan is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Juan is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Sarady off and has taken his back!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Juan working for the choke. Juan struggling to keep hold of the position.
Sarady is trying to stand back up. Juan looking for the rear naked choke. And he's got it! Sarady taps!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Juan Juan! Johnny Mickey Sarady was interviewed post fight and said 'Its happens and i tried my best,next time i will be stronger,trust me!'.
