PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Angus MacCallum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hank Henry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). MacCallum comes to the cage accompanied by Scotland the Brave. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Henry bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps MacCallum's head backwards.


It looks like Angus MacCallum has been cut.
Henry throws a head kick that MacCallum semi-blocks.
MacCallum tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Henry swivels and escapes.
Henry ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nice cross by MacCallum.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Henry manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Henry tries to score a body lock takedown but MacCallum shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

It looks like Hank Henry has been cut.
Henry lands a really nice looking cross but MacCallum seems unphased.

Henry tries to clinch up but MacCallum circles away and keeps his distance.
MacCallum closes the distance and clinches up with Henry, looking for a takedown. MacCallum pushes Henry against the cage but Henry circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

MacCallum wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Henry has him pressed against the cage.
Henry will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning MacCallum up against the cage.
MacCallum tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Henry.
Henry presses MacCallum against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Henry blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Henry has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed MacCallum clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Henry is trying to stick to MacCallum's back but MacCallum is turning into Henry. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Henry's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by MacCallum.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Henry tries to land a sweep but no joy.
MacCallum postures up in Henry's guard and throws a big left but Henry blocks it.
MacCallum has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Henry is proving hard to escape from.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Hank Henry will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Henry gets off balance looking for a body kick
and MacCallum counters with a three punch combo that has Henry backing up. Henry nods at MacCallum to acknowledge the strikes.

and Henry counters with a nice body shot.
Henry goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
MacCallum shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Henry as he avoids it easily.

Angus MacCallum seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Henry decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
MacCallum moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
MacCallum not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

MacCallum wants to get back to his feet but Henry is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
MacCallum will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Henryis looking to pass into half guard but MacCallum pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now MacCallum is in guard.

Henry pushes MacCallum off and scrambles back to his feet.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Henry is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down MacCallum rather than just go for the knockout.

Henry throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
MacCallum tries to move into range but Henry moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Henry throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent MacCallum stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

MacCallum has decided that throwing punches whilst being mounted is the best he can manage just now.

Hank Henry comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Henry has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
