Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gary Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carl Sands! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A good leg kick by Sands. Jackson drops his hands momentarily and Sands takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
It looks like Gary Jackson has been cut. Jackson's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Sands connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Jackson scrambles back to his feet. Sands scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Jackson doesn't seem bothered though. Sands connects with a body shot. Jackson is breathing heavily. Sands cracks Jackson with a good jab. Sands looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Sands steps into range and cracks Jackson with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Jackson flops backwards and Sands dives into his guard looking to finish!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sands loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Jackson keeping moving, preventing Sands from controlling successfully. Jackson wants to sweep but no luck. Sands landing with the ground and pound. Sands wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving. Sands postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Sands trying to control but Jackson is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson is trying to keep Sands in close.
Sands stands up over Jackson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Jackson keeping full guard, as Sands tries to pass. Sands chips away with some ground and pound.
Gary Jackson's cut is getting worse. Sands with a flurry of punches that miss. Jackson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Sands makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Gary Jackson's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Sands scoring with punches to the head and body.
Jeez, Gary Jackson's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Gary Jackson's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
