Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Marcus Livingston! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dean Wesson! The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wesson throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Livingston counters with a body kick that stops Wesson in his tracks momentarily. Wesson gets tackled into the cage by Livingston. Livingston maintains the clinch. Wesson tries to land knees in the clinch but Livingston avoids the damage to the body. Livingston lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Wesson backwards. Wesson tries to work over Livingston's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Livingston lands a damaging elbow.
It looks like Dean Wesson has been cut. Livingston creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Livingston stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Wesson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Livingston is defending well for now. Livingston breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A looping hook to the body misses from Livingston. Wesson does a little dance to reset his feet. Livingston scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Wesson doesn't seem bothered though. A left and a right from Wesson both land. Nice combination. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A jab from Livingston finds it's way through Wesson's defenses. Livingston connects with a solid leg kick. Livingston pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Wesson throws a lazy head kick and Livingston counters with a nice body kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Livingston throws a head kick that misses. A low kick from Wesson misses and Livingston counters by moving into the clinch. Wesson takes an elbow to the temple. Livingston lands a damaging elbow. Wesson takes an elbow to the temple.
That has opened up Dean Wesson's cut even more. Livingston comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Wesson looks winded! Livingston on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Livingston manages to break the clinch.
Livingston throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Wesson takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
We've been told by Livingston's head coaches at Puter Kepala's that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Livingston lands a nice looking body kick. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Livingston pounces like a tiger and cracks Wesson with a vicious hook! Wesson is down but not out! Livingston follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Marcus Livingston! After winning the bout, Marcus Livingston thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
