Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Chi Hubbard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, AJ Adams! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Colin Fotheringham and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Adams fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hubbard looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Adams pushes Hubbard off looking to stand but Hubbard dives back in and keeps control.
Hubbard stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Adams to get to his feet. Adams closes the distance and pushes Hubbard back into the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hubbard tries to score a body lock takedown but Adams shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Adams wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Hubbard jumps guard but Adams stands there with Hubbard around his waist. Hubbard gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Adams is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Adams wants to get back to striking at distance but Hubbard won't allow it.
Adams wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hubbard has him pressed against the cage. Adams is trying to force a seperation but Hubbard has the dominant position. Adams wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Hubbard breaks from the clinch.
Hubbard takes one to the chin there. Adams scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Adams clinches up with Hubbard and pushes him back against the cage. Adams wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hubbard has him pressed against the cage. Adams wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Hubbard is trying to pull guard but Adams has him pressed against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chi Hubbard. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hubbard drags the fight down to the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Adams wants to stand but Hubbard is controlling his posture from full guard. Hubbard has his foot on Adams's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Adams works his way back into a safe position though. Adams wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Hubbard's closed guard. He's half up but Hubbard has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Hubbard pivots and extends the arm, Adams falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Hubbard! Well done that man!
