Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Rocker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Helix Cabrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rocker's entrance music is Ki:Theory - Stand By Me. A fine choice. The crowd seem to be enjoying Cabrera's choice of entrance music: Security! Mean muggin Helix is about to assault the whole opposing camp!. Ricky Rocker has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Helix Cabrera!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Andrew Berry and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cabrera takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Rocker takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Rocker misses with a hook. Cabrera ducked under it nicely.
Rocker misses with an attempted mid kick.
Rocker steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Cabrera.
Rocker checks a low kick from Cabrera.
Cabrera lands a slapping body shot.
Rocker lands a leg kick that knocks Cabrera off balance momentarily.
Cabrera lunges at Rocker with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Rocker's hand.
Rocker gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Cabrera lands with a hook. Rocker tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Rocker cracks Cabrera with an open hand slap.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Cabrera stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Rocker.

Cabrera throws a hook to the side of Rocker's head but Rocker sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Rocker shoots in looking for a takedown but Cabrera manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rocker's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Rocker is looking to slow Cabrera down with leg kicks.
Cabrera throws a nice inside leg kick.
Cabrera chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Rocker can pounce on him.
Cabrera tries to clinch but Rocker moves out of range.
A nice combination there by Rocker.
Cabrera comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Cabrera was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Cabrera fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rocker looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rocker tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cabrera was well out of range. Poor timing from Rocker.

Cabrera ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rocker moves away.
Cabrera buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Cabrera avoids a kick to the body.
Rocker lands a glancing blow to the side of Cabrera's head.
Rocker swings for the body but Cabrera moves out of range.
And Cabrera tries to counter it with a takedown but Rocker pushes his down on his head and steps out.

A little jabbing left from Cabrera on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Rocker looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Cabrera has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Rocker has passed into side control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rocker misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Cabrera tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cabrera is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Rocker wants to take a breather but Cabrera is having none of it.
Rocker drops an elbow to the side of Cabrera's head.

Cabrera has his hands on Rocker's head, controlling the position.
Rocker content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ricky Rocker will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Rocker lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Rocker blocks an uppercut.
Cabrera throws a punch but it's blocked by Rocker.
Cabrera lands with a light punch inside.
Cabrera swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Cabrera turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Cabrera felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cabrera is on top in guard.

Cabrera got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rocker has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cabrera has managed to get both his arms back between Rocker's legs - danger averted.

That was a close round but Ricky Rocker did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.

Rocker is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Cabrera rolls with it to try and escape but Rocker cranks on the arm and Cabrera is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
