The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A chopping leg kick lands by McCullen.

McCullen fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Akharraz looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Akharraz bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of McCullen's head.

and Akharraz cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Akharraz went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

McCullen takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
McCullen feints and then cracks Akharraz's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Akharraz down.

Akharraz lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McCullen circles away quickly and effectively.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Akharraz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Akharraz glances at the clock... BAM! McCullen nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Akharraz crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Akharraz is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
