Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Simon Standa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kyle Rayner! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, David Schapiro and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Standa misses with a body shot.
Rayner tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Standa swivels and escapes. Rayner tries to keep at a distance but Standa has taken the fight into the clinch. Standa breaks the clinch.
Standa stuffs the takedown attempt from Rayner. Rayner gets slowly back to his feet. Standa keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Simon Standa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle Rayner. Standa darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Rayner looks gassed! Rayner is looking to control Standa's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rayner avoid being mounted? Standa not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Standa winds up and cracks Rayner with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Standa stalling. Rayner trying to control from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Rayner is holding on to half guard well. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Standa wants to stand up but Rayner is controlling the position.

Standa trying to control the action but Rayner is working from the bottom. Rayner wants to control but Standa postures up. Standa controls the position from side control. Standa working the head and body with strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rayner gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Standa is thwarting Rayner's attempts to control the position. Standa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rayner keeps working.

Standa content to control rather than advance. Standa wants to control but Rayner is keeping him busy. Rayner is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Standa jumps into side control! Rayner is trying to get back to half guard. Standa working the body and head with strikes. Standa is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Rayner's shoulder. That is not cool. Standa trying to control the position but Rayner is working away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Simon Standa dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Rayner with a lazy takedown attempt and Standa counters with a nice double leg into guard. Rayner trying to keep a closed guard but Standa is proving a slippery customer.
Standa pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rayner is keeping the position for now. Standa is looking to stand up but Rayner won't let him. Rayner tries to land a sweep but no joy. Rayner controlling Standa's posture. Rayner is working an open guard so Standa takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Simon Standa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Standa gets in close and instigates a clinch. Rayner has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Standa is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Standa tightens his grip and picks Rayner up, before dumping him to the ground. Rayner manages to land in guard. Standa working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Standa avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Standa pushes Rayner up against the cage in a clinch. Rayner wants to get back to striking at distance but Standa won't allow it.
Rayner has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Standa is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Simon Standa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle Rayner. Standa breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Standa shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Standa is trying to control the action in half guard but Rayner is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Rayner is positioning himself well to prevent Standa advancing to mount.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Rayner tries to clinch up and Standa counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Standa. Rayner wants to sweep but no luck. Rayner is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rayner wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Standa manages to pass to side control. Rayner is trying to maintain the position but Standa is very close to passing his half guard. Standa looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Rayner is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Standa takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Standa is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rayner doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Standa. Rayner slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Simon Standa dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Standa has hold of one of Rayner's legs. Rayner is fighting the takedown attempt but Standa gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Standa wants to control from the top but Rayner keeps moving. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Standa accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Rayner tries to land a sweep but no joy. Rayner utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Standa throws a big right hand that misses. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Standa wants to control from the top but Rayner keeps moving. Standa is pushing down on Rayner's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rayner is fighting to maintain full guard but Standa has managed to sneak the leg through. Simon Standa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rayner is looking to control Standa's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rayner avoid being mounted?
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Standa moves into the clinch. Standa manages to break the clinch.
Rayner tries to keep at a distance but Standa has taken the fight into the clinch. Rayner goes for a takedown attempt but Standa pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Standa looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Rayner! Rayner is in all sorts of trouble here.
Standa landing strikes from the mount. Standa is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Rayner can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

And that's the end of the fight! Simon Standa showed his dominance in that final round. Well Standa has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
