PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Leo Yaj (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arthur Bishop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Leo Yaj!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Arthur Bishop!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crunch! Bishop slams his shin into Yaj's torso.
Bishop scores with a spinning back kick!

Yaj feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Yaj lands a couple of elbows.
Bishop has his hands on Yaj's head, controlling the position.
Yaj trying to control but Bishop is working from the bottom.
Yaj stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bishop swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Yaj is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bishop is trying to control Yaj's posture but Yaj avoids it.

Yaj wants to control for a moment but Bishop uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Yaj looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bishop with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Yaj working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Yaj has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Leo Yaj overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Yaj is looking to take a break and control but Bishop is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That was a close second round but I would say that Leo Yaj will probably get the nod.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Yaj closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Bishop gets back to full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Leo Yaj showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Yaj, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
