PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Frank Lamphard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Voilier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Voilier is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: I came to play. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Lamphard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Simon Voilier!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Voilier darts in looking for a takedown but Lamphard gets double underhooks and turns Voilier into the cage.

Voilier closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lamphard quickly recovers to half guard.
Lamphard trying to control but Voilier postures up.
Lamphard has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Lamphard is pressing down on Voilier's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Lamphard on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Lamphard tries to get out of the position.

Lamphard is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Voilier defends well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Voilier closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Lamphard tries to improve position but can't.

Voilier must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Voilier wants to control from the top but Lamphard keeps moving.

Lamphard is looking for a triangle but Voilier pushes his legs off easily.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Voilier wants to take a breather but Lamphard manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Voilier.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Voilier counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Frank Lamphard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lamphard is looking to clinch.
Voilier is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Frank Lamphard is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Lamphard fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Voilier, pushing him back against the cage.
Lamphard lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Lamphard lands a nice uppercut.
Lamphard can't find room to land a body shot as Voilier controls the action.

Voilier throws a sloppy head kick and Lamphard moves out of range easily.
Voilier closes the distance and clinches up with Lamphard, looking for a takedown. Voilier pushes Lamphard against the cage but Lamphard circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Lamphard doesn't manage to clinch there - Voilier circles away.

Lamphard manages to break the clinch.
Lamphard tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Voilier manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Lamphard sets himself, and Voilier steps forward looking for the clinch! Lamphard avoids it this time.
Lamphard lands a jab to Voilier's midsection.
Lamphard wants to clinch up but Voilier keeps it at a distance.
Voilier throws a body punch but Lamphard moves out of range.

Lamphard has managed to clinch.
Lamphard unloads a knee to the mid-section. Voilier lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Lamphard creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Lamphard lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Lamphard is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Voilier can do to turn this around?

Voilier is breathing heavily.
Lamphard lands a left hand.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lamphard works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
With the fighters up against the cage, Lamphard throws an elbow but misses.

Lamphard throws a big uppercut that drops Voilier! More strikes from Lamphard and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Voilier lies dazed against the cage as Lamphard celebrates with his cornermen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Frank Lamphard!
Frank Lamphard spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
