Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cannondale Trail! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Leonard Martinez! The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Francis DeMontford and Chris Dean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Trail takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Trail throws a hook but Martinez avoids it easily. Trail tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Martinez scores with a shot to the body.
Martinez has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Trail is landing a low percentage of strikes. Good standup being displayed there by Martinez as he connects with a hook. Trail has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Samran Muay Thai in the buildup to the fight. Martinez staying out of range there. Martinez throws a right hand that misses
and Trail connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
It looks like Leonard Martinez has been cut. Martinez lands a jab-cross combination.
It looks like Cannondale Trail has been cut. Trail keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Martinez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Trail moves out of range and avoids them all easily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Trail blocks a head kick by Martinez.
A bone on bone clash there as Trail blocks the leg kick.
A quick step to the side and Trail tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Leonard Martinez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Trail swings for the body but Martinez moves out of range.
Cannondale Trail is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Trail throws a right hand that Martinez ducks under and follows up with a left that Martinez also avoids with ease. Martinez throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Trail's head. Martinez rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Trail cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Martinez darts in looking for a takedown but Trail gets double underhooks and turns Martinez into the cage. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Trail crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Martinez - the referee stops the clock and Trail gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Martinez. Trail manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Martinez moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. A looping hook to the body misses from Martinez. Trail does a little dance to reset his feet. Trail looks to land a left hand but Martinez moved out of range nicely. Martinez shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Martinez closes the distance and lands a one-two.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Martinez buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Trail thows a left - swing and a miss! Martinez ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Martinez is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Trail moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cannondale Trail! Post fight, Cannondale Trail stared into the camera and said 'I would like to thank God for tonight, I hope my opponent is healthy. Fighting here is an honor. '.
