Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Bisping (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Axel Van Dam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bisping comes to the cage accompanied by Fight Music. Van Dam has chosen Beatdown - Gunman Joe as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Bisping!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Axel Van Dam!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bisping tries to clinch up but Van Dam circles away and keeps his distance.
Van Dam smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Van Dam throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Bisping looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Van Dam throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Bisping closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Van Dam is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
A control attempt from Van Dam but he's now mounted!

Bisping is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Van Dam is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Bisping pulls his head out easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Van Dam lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Bisping shoots in for a double leg but Van Dam sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Bisping throws a right hand that Van Dam ducks under and follows up with a left that Van Dam also avoids with ease.
Bisping tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Van Dam lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Bisping fails with the takedown.
Bisping is breathing heavily.

Van Dam looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Van Dam has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Van Dam trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Bisping flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Van Dam goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Bisping rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Van Dam's guard! Nice work there by Bisping!
Bisping has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Bisping decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Van Dam is on top in guard.

Axel Van Dam showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

David Bisping has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Axel Van Dam comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Van Dam has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
