Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ruud Gullit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ruud Gullit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Smith!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Daniel Bishop and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gullit takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Gullit misses with a jab, cross combination.

Smith rushes Gullit and presses him up against the cage.

Smith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gullit avoids a kick to the body.
Smith avoids the body shot from Gullit.
Smith misses with a head kick.
Smith displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gullit throws out the jab.
Gullit throws a series of punches but Smith avoids them all with ease.
Gullit shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Smith eats them both and turns towards Gullit to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Gullit misses with a wild body shot.
A left and a right from Gullit both land. Nice combination.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nice defenses there by Smith.
Smith throws a head kick but Gullit moves out of range.

Smith rushes Gullit and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Gullit.

Gullit jumps into guard, dragging Smith to the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Gullit is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Smith is aware though and is defending well.
Gullit not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Smith got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gullit has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smith has managed to get both his arms back between Gullit's legs - danger averted.

Gullit is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Smith wants to get up but he can't break Gullit's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Gullit manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Smith manages to get himself to full guard.

Smith manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Smith lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Smith's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gullit throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gullit throws a big shot that misses.
Smith plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!


It looks like Ruud Gullit has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gullit looks to land a left hand but Smith moved out of range nicely.

Smith lands a big head kick that sends Gullit tumbling to the mat! Smith takes a step backwards and waves Gullit back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Gullit is rocked!

Smith drives through and clinches with Gullit against the cage.
Oh Gullit is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Smith missing with knees to the body.

Gullit escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gullit seems to have got his legs back now.
Smith doesn't manage to clinch there - Gullit circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A slapping leg kick lands for Smith.
Gullit throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Smith is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Smith tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gullit manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gullit misses the jab.
Smith connects with a good right hand that stumbles Gullit. Gullit circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Gullit cracks Smith with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Gullit avoids the body shot from Smith.
Gullit throws a lazy right hand but Smith sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Matt Smith is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gullit stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Smith.
Gullit misses with a body kick.
Smith appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Smith clinches.
Smith tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Gullit breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Smith gets in close and instigates a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Smith swings wildly with an uppercut but Gullit uses good head movement to avoid it.
Gullit is trying to drag Smith to the mat but Smith just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smith manages to break the clinch.
Smith moves in looking to clinch but Gullit pushes him off.
Smith misses with a low kick.
Gullit sizes up Smith with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Gullit throws a body shot but no joy.
Smith turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Smith misses with a low kick.
Gullit throws a head kick that misses
and Smith counters with a nice body shot.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Smith avoids a kick to the body.
Smith wants to counter the offense by Gullit and move into the clinch position.
Smith lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Smith tries to clinch up but Gullit circles away and keeps his distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Smith dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ruud Gullit's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Gullit throws a hook but Smith blocks it.
Smith lands a leg kick that knocks Gullit off balance momentarily.

Smith instigates a clinch.
Smith has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Gullit breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gullit doesn't succeed with the takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Smith misses with a head kick.
Gullit throws a right and a left that Smith avoids nicely.

Smith clinches.
Smith prevents the takedown attempt.

Gullit escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gullit tries to land a front kick but Smith steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Smith steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Gullit.

Smith gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Gullit will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sloppy strikes from Gullit. Those never looked like landing.
Smith scores with a kick to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Smith fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Gullit has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Gullit is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Smith plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Good leg kick by Smith there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Smith is looking to clinch but Gullit is avoiding it.

Smith lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Smith unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Smith scores a nice knee to the body.
Smith gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Matt Smith seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Gullit is trying to break the clinch but Smith is controlling him.
Smith scores with a nice hook to the head.
Smith has Gullit pressed against the cage, preventing Gullit from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Smith lands a body punch.
Smith lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Smith lands a good knee to the midsection. Gullit won't want to take too many of those.
Smith tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Gullit's elbow.
Smith lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Gullit or not.

Smith manages to break the clinch.
Smith throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Smith has closed the distance and engaged Gullit in a clinch.
Still in the clinch, Smith scores with a nice short uppercut.

Smith feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gullit's calf.
Gullit throws a combination that misses
and Smith cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Smith takes the fight into the clinch.

Smith lands a body shot.
Gullit tries to circle away but Smith has him pinned against the cage.

A quick uppercut on the inside from Smith.
Smith lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Gullit is trying to break the clinch but Smith has him pressed against the cage.
Gullit drops down looking for an ankle pick but Smith pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ruud Gullit. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Whack! Smith lands a heavy head kick that drops Gullit. The ref tackles Smith to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Gullit was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Matt Smith!
