Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
25 - 15 - 0, fighting out of London, Gustav Ragnarson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryan Sixx ! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sixx closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Ragnarson regains half guard. Ragnarson keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sixx is trying to control. Ragnarson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Ragnarson gets full guard. Ragnarson wants to sweep here but Sixx controlling him for the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ragnarson is working hard here to advance position. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ragnarson holds on and takes a little breather. Sixx stopping the sweep attempt from Ragnarson. Sixx must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ragnarson pulls Sixx in close to prevent any damage. Ragnarson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Sixx drives through with a takedown into guard. Ragnarson pulls Sixx in close to prevent any damage. Ragnarson looking for a guillotine here but Sixx defends easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ragnarson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Ragnarson passes Sixx 's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Ragnarson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Ragnarson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ragnarson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ragnarson landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Sixx is rocked! Ragnarson controlling the position here and throwing strikes from the top. Nice elbow lands there... and another... and another... oh, Sixx is out! Ragnarson gets to his feet and admires his work - nice finish!
