PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ole Svensson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Dyrdek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Svensson comes into the arena with Fever Ray -If I had a heart blaring out of the sound system. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ole Svensson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rob Dyrdek!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Alyssa Summers and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Svensson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dyrdek moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Svensson throws a hook but Dyrdek avoids it easily.
Svensson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

and Svensson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Dyrdek looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Dyrdek has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Svensson.
Dyrdek moves out of range as Svensson throws a body kick.
Svensson goes for a double leg but Dyrdek avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Dyrdek continues to drive forward.
Svensson lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
The crowd cheers as Svensson lands an impressive looking overhand right. Dyrdek doesn't seem phased though.

I was talking to Svensson's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Dyrdek escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Svensson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Svensson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Svensson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dyrdek has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Svensson has managed to get both his arms back between Dyrdek's legs - danger averted.

That was a close round but I would say that Ole Svensson will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Svensson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Dyrdek looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Dyrdek looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Dyrdek!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ole Svensson.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Svensson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
