Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between jabez Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stephan Potvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, jabez Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stephan Potvin!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams tries to bum rush Potvin with a series of wild strikes but Potvin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Williams throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Potvin.
Williams will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Potvin rushes Williams and presses him up against the cage.
Williams misses with some punches.
Williams is looking to break free of the clinch but Potvin has double underhooks.

Potvin manages to break the clinch.
Potvin shoots in but Williams avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Williams gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Potvin gets to his feet. Williams looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Williams throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Williams tries to land a front kick but Potvin steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Williams throws a right and a left that both miss.
Nice body kick there by Williams.
Potvin looks gassed!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Williams lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Potvin circles away quickly and effectively.
Williams misses with a wild combination.
Williams lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Potvin sprawling to the canvas. Williams follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Potvin hang on?


Potvin is rocked!

Potvin is still in real trouble! Can Williams finish him?

Potvin seems to have recovered his senses.

Potvin has one foot on Williams's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Potvin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Williams tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Williams tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Potvin presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Potvin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Let's hope that Potvin has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Potvin has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Williams's face.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Potvin content just to control the position here.
Potvin lands a big elbow.

Potvin jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Williams manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Potvin works to advance to full mount. Williams defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Potvin tries to control but Williams wriggling away.

Potvin has control of Williams's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Williams regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Williams tries to reverse the position but Potvin maintains control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Potvin looking to control and managing it successfully.
Williams throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Potvin pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Potvin lands a heavy elbow.

Potvin is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Williams can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Williams is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Stephan Potvin will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Williams misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Williams misses with the combination.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Potvin lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Williams has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Williams and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
jabez Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Williams misses with a series of wild punches.
Potvin looks for a takedown but Williams sprawls well.
Williams tries a head kick but it misses.

Potvin gets a takedown into half guard.
Potvin performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Williams knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Potvin on the ground.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Potvin is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Potvin keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Williams is trying to stand back up but Potvin is controlling him

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Potvin lands a nice forearm strike.
Williams takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Williams misses with a strike from the bottom.

Potvin decides to stand back up.

Potvin has Williams up against the cage in a clinch.

Williams breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Williams throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Potvin thuds a left hand into Williams's body.

Potvin takes the fight into the clinch.
Williams wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Potvin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Williams lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Potvin circles away quickly and effectively.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Potvin gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Williams wants to break free but Potvin has control.

Potvin manages to break the clinch.
Potvin clobbers Williams with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Potvin shoots in for a double leg but Williams sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Williams wants to clinch but Potvin slips to the side

and Potvin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Williams won't be happy with that.
Potvin prevents Williams from escaping the position.
Stephan Potvin has got the better of the ground game so far.
Potvin landing a few strikes.
Williams manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Potvin is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Williams wants to get back to full guard.

Potvin stands up and beckons Williams to join him on the feet.
Williams tries to clinch but Potvin moves away

and Potvin counters with a shoot takedown. Williams fights it but they end up in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Potvin controlling from the top position.
Williams is trying to keep Potvin in close.
Potvin won't allow Williams to get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Potvin stays in close to Williams's body and controls the position.
Williams wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stephan Potvin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Potvin looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Williams tries to get to full guard but Potvin has control of the leg.
Williams is working hard here to advance position.

Potvin postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Williams to stand up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Williams avoids the head kick by Potvin.
Williams tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Potvin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Potvin. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

and Potvin counters with a lovely straight right hand!
jabez Williams is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Potvin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Williams to the mat! Williams manages to get full guard.

Potvin stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Williams throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Potvin.
Williams takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Potvin moves into the clinch successfully.
Williams lands a right hand.
Potvin wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Potvin has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Williams uses from the top position.
Williams is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Williams thows a big elbow that misses.
Potvin pulls Williams in close to prevent any damage.

Potvin is pulling down on Williams's head. It's preventing any offense from Williams, at least for the moment.

Potvin is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Williams has his hands clasped together but Potvin extends an breaks Williams's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Potvin.
