Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zakhar Zbruyev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zo Hyde! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hyde shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hyde was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Zbruyev is working to get back to half guard.
Hyde stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. Hyde scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Zbruyev tries to buck Hyde off but Hyde is having none of it. Hyde decides to stand up, so the ref orders Zbruyev to his feet. Hyde lands a high kick!
Zbruyev gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Hyde counters with a lovely straight right hand! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hyde gets caught flat footed, as Zbruyev shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Zbruyev is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Hyde is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zbruyev trying to move into half guard but instead Hyde has managed to sweep! Zbruyev looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Hyde pushes down on Zbruyev's leg and manages to get into half guard. Hyde decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. A head kick from Hyde lands but Zbruyev takes it in his stride. Zbruyev takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Zbruyev darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Zbruyev is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Hyde has managed to free his arm - good work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hyde is positioning himself well to prevent Zbruyev advancing to mount. Zbruyev looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Hyde is controlling Zbruyev's trapped leg to prevent Zbruyev from advancing to side control.

Hyde kicks Zbruyev off and gets back to his feet. Hyde misses the shot to the body. Hyde fails with a takedown attempt. Zbruyev fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hyde sprawls well initially but Zbruyev persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Hyde is looking to escape. Zbruyev is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Zbruyev is looking for a kimura but Hyde is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Zbruyev to get the leverage. Zbruyev uses his free foot to push down on Hyde's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Hyde. Zbruyev jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hyde is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hyde and Zbruyev has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Zbruyev is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hyde knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Zbruyev wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hyde, who protects the arm well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Zo Hyde dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Hyde scores a takedown into full mount! Zbruyev is desperately trying to improve his position but Hyde has a good base and remains in mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hyde controlling the pace for now. Zbruyev slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Zbruyev works a leg free and moves into half guard. Zbruyev is looking for a kimura. Zo Hyde showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Zbruyev's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Zbruyev feints and as Hyde raises his hands in defense, Zbruyev changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Hyde is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Zbruyev postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hyde is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Zbruyev, into his guard. Hyde showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Zbruyev has a closed guard, preventing Hyde from standing up. Zo Hyde has got the better of the ground game so far. Zbruyev being controlled here, momentarily. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hyde doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hyde manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Zbruyev looking for a guillotine here but Hyde defends easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Hyde closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Zbruyev actively working from the bottom here. Hyde postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Zbruyev to stand up. Zo Hyde seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hyde throws a hook to the side of Zbruyev's head but Zbruyev sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Zbruyev shoots in for a double leg but Hyde sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Hyde scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Zbruyev tries to buck Hyde off but Hyde is having none of it. Zbruyev is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Zo Hyde is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Zbruyev looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Zbruyev is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Hyde pulls his head out easily. Hyde seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Zbruyev looking for submissions off his back.
And that's the end of the fight! Zo Hyde comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Hyde has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
