The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ibanez closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Conlon quickly recovers to half guard.

Ibanez has control of Conlon's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Conlon regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Conlon is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Ibanez gets his way!

Conlon is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Ibanez off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ibanez has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Conlon has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

An out of breath Brendan Conlon thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
Renato Ibanez spoke after the fight, saying 'The only reason I cut so easily is because of my eczema and excessive use of steroid creams thinning my skin'.
