PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Deidara Zetsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gunner Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Zetsu might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Make Me. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 20 - 0, fighting out of New York, Deidara Zetsu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gunner Harris!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Alyssa Summers and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harris tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Zetsu connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Harris misses with a jab to the body
and Zetsu counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Zetsu has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Javi' Corner in the buildup to the fight.
Gunner Harris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zetsu misses with an attempted mid kick.
And Harris tries to counter it with a takedown but Zetsu pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Zetsu avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Zetsu is looking to counter punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zetsu looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Zetsu stalks Harris and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Harris's face. Harris staggers backwards, shaken.
Zetsu throws a leg kick but Harris sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Harris throws a series of punches but Zetsu avoids them all with ease.

Zetsu misses with an attempted mid kick.
Harris misses with a takedown attempt - Zetsu sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Zetsu keeps the fight on the outside.
Zetsu lands a leg kick that knocks Harris off balance momentarily.
Harris wants to clinch.
Harris misses with a straight right.
As Harris backs away, Zetsu returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Harris scores with a body shot.
Harris lands a jab to the head.


It looks like Deidara Zetsu has been cut.
Zetsu buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Harris shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Harris is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Harris trying to stand up but can't free himself from Zetsu's guard.
Harris wants to pass the guard but Zetsu is keeping the position.
Harris throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Zetsu works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Harris is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Zetsu's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Harris drives through with a takedown into Zetsu's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harris slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Harris not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Harris has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Harris wants to control from the top but Zetsu keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Zetsu showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Harris.
Zetsu is looking to counter punch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Harris connects with a single shot there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Gunner Harris will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Zetsu attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Harris blocks a leg kick.
Zetsu dodges the punch combination from Harris.
Harris tries for a takedown but Zetsu circles away easily
and Harris takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Harris doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Zetsu counters with a nice body shot.
Deidara Zetsu is winning the standup battle so far.
Harris tries to clinch but Zetsu is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Harris counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Zetsu!
Harris wants to stand but Zetsu is controlling his arm.
Zetsu is looking to reverse the position.

Harris is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Zetsu has escaped the position, nice work there.

Zetsu is looking to regain half guard here but Harris keeps moving and retains side control.
Gunner Harris has got the better of the ground game so far.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Harris tries to stand but Zetsu is controlling his head.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Harris feints a jab promting Zetsu to slip. Harris then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Zetsu slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Harris wants to clinch.
Zetsu throws a body punch but Harris moves out of range.
Zetsu tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Harris is able to avoid easily.
Harris tries to clinch up but Zetsu circles away and keeps his distance.
Gunner Harris is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Harris changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Zetsu tries to avoid it but Harris manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Zetsu to the ground. Zetsu escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Deidara Zetsu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gunner Harris.
Harris tries to bum rush Zetsu with a series of wild strikes but Zetsu uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Harris wants to clinch.
Harris shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Zetsu counters with a nice body kick.
Harris tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Zetsu paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Harris loads up on a big right hand but Zetsu slips the punch.

Harris closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Zetsu to the mat! Zetsu manages to get full guard.

Harris tries to free his leg and advance position but Zetsu is retaining full guard.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Harris drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Zetsu manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Harris has Zetsu in his guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Deidara Zetsu will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Harris wants to clinch up but Zetsu keeps it at a distance.
Zetsu slips a jab and a cross from Harris.
It looked like Zetsu was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Harris.
Harris stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Harris doesn't manage to clinch there - Zetsu circles away.
Harris tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Harris throws a left and a right that both miss
and Zetsu counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Harris takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Harris throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Harris has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Zetsu finds it's way round the side to connect with Harris's head.
Harris is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Harris takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Zetsu avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Zetsu quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Zetsu throws a low kick, looking for Harris's leg but Harris calmly moves out of range.

Zetsu prevents a takedown attempt there.
Harris is trying to break the clinch but Zetsu has him pressed against the cage.

Harris shoots in and drives through. Zetsu sprawls well.

Harris looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Zetsu is fending him off so far but Harris persists. Nope, Zetsu circles away and we're back to standing.
Zetsu is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Harris can do to turn this around?

A little feinted left hand from Zetsu on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Zetsu fires out a quick counter leg kick but Harris just manages to avoid it.
Harris shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Zetsu defends it nicely.
Harris is looking to score with low kicks.

Zetsu throws a body shot but no joy.
Zetsu works the jab nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

It appears Zetsu was looking to counter with a kick there.

enabling Zetsu to counter with a crisp jab.

And that's the end of the fight!
Deidara Zetsu showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Zetsu has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
