Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Randy Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dani Curtin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Randy Grant has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Randy Grant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dani Curtin!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Curtin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Grant paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Grant is looking to counter with head kicks.
Curtin tries to clinch up.

Dani Curtin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Good leg kick by Curtin there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Grant keeps the fight on the outside.
Grant appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Curtin lands a jab-cross combination.


It looks like Randy Grant has been cut.
Curtin lands with a thumping leg kick.
Curtin is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Curtin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Curtin throws the kick towards the body but Grant avoids it.

Grant turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Grant manages to end up in side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Curtin is looking for a sweep.
Grant is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Grant seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Curtin for as long as he can get away with.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The strikes coming from Grant are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Curtin manages to work his way to half guard, despite Grant's best efforts.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Grant scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Grant thows a huge punch but Curtin dodges it nicely.
Well, if Grant is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Curtin is trying to maintain the position but Grant is very close to passing his half guard.
Grant throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Grant thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Grant content to control rather than advance.
Curtin wants to get back to full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Curtin throws a leg kick that is checked

and Grant holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Grant pulls guard successfully.

Grant had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Curtin defends it easily.

Grant is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Curtin defends well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Curtin wants to control from the top but Grant keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Curtin lands a nice leg kick that just misses Grant's sensitive parts.
Curtin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Grant is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Curtin.
Curtin thows a body kick. Grant tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Dani Curtin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Grant dives in and scores a takedown into Curtin's guard.

Curtin is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Grant presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Grant is pressing down on Curtin's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Curtin slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Curtin is looking to take a break and control but Grant is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Grant is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Curtin wants to control for a moment but Grant uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Curtin uses his free foot to push down on Grant's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Grant.
Grant tries to hold on but Curtin postures up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Curtin stands up from mount. Strange move.
Curtin connects with a solid leg kick.
Curtin throws a quick inside leg kick.
Curtin is looking to clinch but Grant is avoiding it.
A nice inside leg kick there by Curtin. That's going to slow Grant down.
Curtin is looking to slow Grant down with leg kicks.

and Curtin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Grant rushes Curtin and presses him up against the cage.

Dani Curtin seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Good work by Grant as he checks the leg kick.

Curtin tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Grant just stands there and leans against the cage.

Grant escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Grant is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Curtin lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Grant darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Grant prevents Curtin from improving his position.

Grant takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Nice strikes from Grant there.
This has been an exciting period of action!
It looks like Grant is going to stand back up.
Grant is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Curtin is looking to improve his position.
Grant working over Curtin with some ground and pound. Curtin looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Grant throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Curtin walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Grant checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Grant checks a leg kick.
Curtin just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromGrant.

Grant closes the distance and pushes Curtin back into the cage.
Curtin tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Curtin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Grant has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Curtin uses from the top position.

Grant has his foot on Curtin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Curtin works his way back into a safe position though.

Grant lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Grant has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Grant is looking to work some ground and pound but Curtin has wrist control.
Grant is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Grant's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Curtin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Grant is one step ahead there.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Curtin throws the kick towards the body but Grant avoids it.
Grant is looking to counter punch.
Curtin tries to clinch up
and Curtin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Curtin connects with a solid leg kick.
Curtin fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Grant is out of range.
Grant throws a counter high kick but Curtin was just alert enough to avoid it.

Grant closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Randy Grant.
I think Grant has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
