Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Draven!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Draven lands with a nice combination. Johnson backs away looking to recover.
Nice takedown defense from Draven. No joy for Johnson on that attempt.
Draven misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Johnson looks for a takedown but Draven sprawls well.
Draven drops Johnson with a beautiful combination! Johnson stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Draven is looking for the KO!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Draven pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Johnson throws a head kick but Draven moves out of range.

Draven shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Draven trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Draven postures up and lands a big shot to Johnson's brow.
Johnson wants to stand and escape but Draven is having none of it.
Johnson can't keep his opponent in guard - Draven advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Draven lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Draven prevents Johnson from improving his position.
Draven is tying to control. Johnson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Draven is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Johnson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Johnson tries to roll over but Draven keeps him under control.
Draven seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Johnson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Draven is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Draven working over Johnson with some ground and pound. Johnson looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Johnson is trying to stand.

Draven stands up and beckons Johnson to join him on the feet.
Draven blocks a head kick by Johnson.
Johnson looks gassed!

Johnson takes the fight into the clinch.

Draven pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Johnson looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Draven throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Johnson stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Draven follows into mount!


Johnson is rocked!


It looks like Anthony Johnson has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Johnson regains half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Johnson is trying to get back to full guard.
Draven content to control rather than advance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Draven passes to side control.

Draven decides to stand up, so the ref orders Johnson to his feet.
Johnson shoots in but no luck this time.
Daniel Draven has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anthony Johnson.

Draven has taken the fight to the clinch.
Johnson is trying to drag Draven to the mat but Draven just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Draven keeps control of Johnson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Johnson is trying desperately to land a takedown but Draven is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Johnson.

Draven manages to break the clinch.
Johnson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Draven shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Johnson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Johnson doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Draven counters with a takedown into side control.
Johnson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Draven has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Draven moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Draven has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Johnson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Johnson misses with a takedown

so Draven counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Draven stops Johnson from standing up.
Draven is standing up over Johnson. Johnson looks to escape but Draven dives into side control.
Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Draven. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Draven wants to lay and pray for a moment but Johnson keeps working.
Johnson is pushing Draven's head away, looking to escape. Draven manages to hold on to the position though.

Draven controlling the position.
Johnson is looking for a sweep.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Johnson has his takedown stuffed
and Draven counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Johnson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Johnson fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Draven dodges the ground and pound from Johnson.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Draven takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Draven is trying to get back to his feet.
Johnson lands a nice forearm strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnson walks into a left hand.
Johnson wants to clinch up but Draven keeps it at a distance.
Some wild striking there from Draven.
A lazy body kick from Johnson
and Draven counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Johnson looks to land a right hand but Draven moved out of range.

Johnson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Draven sees it coming and avoids it easily.

and Draven counters with a shoot takedown. Johnson fights it but they end up in guard.
Johnson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Draven is controlling him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Johnson wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Draven manages to pass to side control.
Johnson is in trouble now - Draven has advanced to mount!
Johnson is desperately trying to improve his position but Draven has a good base and remains in mount.
Draven can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Johnson is looking to escape.
Johnson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Johnson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Johnson is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Johnson is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Draven landing strikes, looking to finish!
Daniel Draven overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Johnson is squirming around, avoiding Draven's attempts to control the action.
Johnson's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Draven looking to control but Johnson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Johnson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
