Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pablo Escobar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 14 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Newman!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escobar throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Escobar misses the jab.
Escobar just misses with a punch to the body.
Escobar tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Newman counters with a stiff right hand.
Escobar tries to close the distance and clinch up but Newman swats him away and circles back towards the center.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Newman! But no joy.
Escobar doesn't manage to clinch there - Newman circles away.
Newman throws out a counter right but Escobar avoids it with no problem.
Escobar throws out a powerful jab.
The fight stays on the outside here - Escobar looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Newman clobbers Escobar with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Newman gets off balance looking for a body kick

and Escobar decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Newman's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Newman is looking to sweep but instead, Escobar has passed into half guard.

Escobar scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Escobar looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Escobar is trying to control the action in half guard but Newman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Escobar slips a nice elbow through Newman's hands, connecting with Newman's forehead.

Escobar looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Escobar is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Newman looks like he's trying to stand up.
Escobar wants to pass the guard but Newman is defending well.
Escobar is keen to just control but Newman is a slippery customer.
Newman is trying to control but can't.
Escobar not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Escobar slows the pace down in half guard.
Escobar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Escobar is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Newman!

Newman wants to hold on but Escobar pushes him away.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Newman seems to have recovered his senses.
Newman on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Escobar darts in trying to clinch
and Newman connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Newman bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Newman connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Escobar's hands.

Newman is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Escobar.
Escobar stalks Newman and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Newman's face. Newman staggers backwards, shaken.
Escobar cracks Newman with a right hand to the side of the head.
Escobar misses with a looping right.
Paul Newman seems to be getting the better of the standup.
A lazy left from Newman finds it's target.
Escobar jabs Newman to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Escobar tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Newman counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Escobar thinking.
Escobar scores with a sloppy right hand. Newman should have avoided that one.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Escobar moves into the clinch.
Escobar lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Newman backwards.
Newman is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Newman presses Escobar against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Escobar escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Escobar misses with a hook.
Escobar scores with a nice right hand.

Escobar drives through and clinches with Newman against the cage.
Escobar is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Newman can do to turn this around?
Newman prevents a body shot from Escobar.
Escobar jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Newman walks away with a smile on his face. Escobar gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Escobar lands a glancing blow to the side of Newman's head.
Newman has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Pablo Escobar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Escobar lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Escobar swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Newman counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Escobar moves out of range of the body kick from Newman.
Newman looks to land a left hand but Escobar moved out of range nicely.
Escobar misses the body punch
and Newman counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.


Escobar is rocked!
Escobar tries for a takedown but Newman sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pablo Escobar. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Newman connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Escobar! He's out on his feet! Newman rushes in and drops Escobar with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Paul Newman!
In his post fight interview, Paul Newman started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
