PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jet Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Trudel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trudel comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Cadillac Pimpin kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jet Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fred Trudel!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jones wants to clinch up but Trudel keeps it at a distance.
Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Trudel tries to clinch but Jones moves out of range.
Jones closes the distance and clinches up with Trudel, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes Trudel against the cage but Trudel circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Trudel looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Trudel persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing.
Trudel throws a sloppy head kick and Jones moves out of range easily.

Trudel feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

and Trudel counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Trudel stalks Jones and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Jones's face. Jones staggers backwards, shaken.

Trudel scores with a hook to the body. Jones takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Trudel avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Trudel gets caught flat footed, as Jones shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Jones has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Trudel not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jones postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Jones chips away with some ground and pound.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jones cracks Trudel with a solid left hand.

Jones jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Trudel walks away with a smile on his face. Jones gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Trudel counters with a series of strikes. Jones will be more careful next time no doubt.

Jones throws a right hand that Trudel ducks under and follows up with a left that Trudel also avoids with ease.
Trudel throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Jones on the side of the head.
Jet Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones throws a nice looking combination but Trudel bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Trudel.
Trudel stuns Jones with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Trudel shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Trudel showed some decent athleticism there.

Trudel is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jones defends it well.

Fred Trudel is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Jones working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
