0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Roddy Piper! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Daniel Franklin and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Piper on the side of the head. Piper is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.
Smith thuds his right hand into Piper's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Piper shoots in but Smith avoids the takedown attempt easily. Smith connects with a crisp jab. Smith darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Smith shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Smith showed some decent athleticism there. Smith wants to control but Piper is keeping him busy. Smith looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Smith is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Piper has managed to free his arm - good work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith wants to control but Piper is keeping him busy. Smith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Smith trying to control from Piper's half guard. Piper has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Smith engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but Piper is retaining full guard. Smith sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Piper doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Smith paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Piper - great work!
