The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Piper on the side of the head.
Piper is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.
Smith thuds his right hand into Piper's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Piper shoots in but Smith avoids the takedown attempt easily.
