Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Zaine Barr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maven Troers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maven Troers has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Zaine Barr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Maven Troers! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Dean Styles and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Troers lands a jab-cross combination. No joy there for Troers, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Barr shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Barr showed some decent athleticism there. Troers trying to hold on to Barr's head to control him but Barr postures up.
Troers avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Barr. Nice strikes from Barr there. Barr slows the pace down in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Troers is trying to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barr with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Troers has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Barr is working away from the top position though. Still in half guard, Barr seems content to control. Barr throwing shots but Troers is blocking nicely. Barr sitting and controlling from the half guard. Troers is looking to get back to full guard here but Barr has managed to pass to side control instead. Troers tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Barr wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Barr controls the position from side control. Troers is trying to get back to half guard. Troers is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Barr has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Troers! Barr sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Troers tries to hold on but Barr pushes him away. Barr looking to control and managing it successfully. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Barr pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Troers in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
It looks like Maven Troers has been cut. Barr has hold of Troers's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Troers manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Barr controlling the position easily from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Troers tries to hold on but Barr pushes him away. Barr is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Troers can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Barr tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Barr working away from the top, dropping strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Zaine Barr dominated that round. The cut man is working on Maven Troers's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Troers keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Barr takes a swing at Troers's ribcage but misses. Barr throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Troers was covering up waiting for the punch and Barr finishes the takedown easily into guard. Barr stays in close to Troers's body and controls the position. Troers controls Barr momentarily but Barr frees himself. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Troers wants to control the position but Barr says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Troers is defending against the submission attempts here by Barr.
Zaine Barr overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barr trying to control the pace. Barr has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Barr is pressing down on Troers's thigh, looking to free his foot. Troers is holding on for now. Troers is trying to maintain the position but Barr is very close to passing his half guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Barr sitting and controlling from the half guard.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Barr shoots in but doesn't get the takedown letting Troers counter with a right hand. Barr fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zaine Barr. That's going to take a lot out of him. Troers scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice body punch from Troers. Troers lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Barr backs up against the cage.
Barr tries for a takedown but Troers circles away easily and Troers counters with a stiff right hand. Barr looks for a takedown but Troers sprawls well. Troers scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Troers has taken the fight to the clinch.
Troers wants to stall.
Barr wants a takedown.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Troers lands a nice shot to the body. Barr goes for a takedown in the clinch but Troers prevents it.
A left hand lands to the body for Troers.
Troers wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Troers lands a right hand. Barr drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Troers gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Barr.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Maven Troers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Maven Troers's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Troers lands with a nice body punch. Troers clinches up with Barr and pushes him back against the cage. Barr changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Troers fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Troers stuffs the takedown attempt from Barr. Barr gets slowly back to his feet. Troers feints a jab promting Barr to slip. Troers then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Barr slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Troers closes the distance and pushes Barr back into the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Troers lands a shoulder strike. Barr has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Troers regains guard immediately. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Troers looking for a sweep. Not yet Troers, not yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barr is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Troers looking to control.
Troers looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Barr has picked Troers up and slammed him! Troers can't keep hold of the triangle and Barr manages to pass to side control! The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Troers tries to bench press Barr off him but Barr keeps the position. You can see the frustration on Troers's face as Barr controls the position. Barr tries to score with some ground and pound. Troers controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Troers is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Barr controls the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a sustained period of stalling by Barr. Barr lands a nice forearm strike. The referee asks Barr politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Barr prefers to stall for the moment though. Barr seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Troers for as long as he can get away with.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barr lands a nice forearm strike. Troers is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Troers takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Barr thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Troers takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barr happy to just control the position for now. Troers tries to buck Barr off but Barr is having none of it. A lull in the action here. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Troers is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Barr works to advance to full mount. Troers defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Troers is trying desperately to improve position.
And that's the end of the fight! Zaine Barr showed his dominance in that final round. I think Barr has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
