Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fredrick Glass! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Askaa Ganbaatar! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Glass misses with a body kick. Glass shoots in and gets a takedown into Ganbaatar's guard. Ganbaatar keeping moving, preventing Glass from controlling successfully. Ganbaatar looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Ganbaatar has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Glass tries to free his leg and advance position but Ganbaatar is retaining full guard. Ganbaatar seems keen to control Glass's posture. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Glass looking to pass the guard. Ganbaatar is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Glass trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Glass could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Glass wants to control from the top but Ganbaatar keeps moving. Ganbaatar tries to land a sweep but no joy. Ganbaatar wants to control but Glass passes easily into half guard.
Glass tries to stand and escape but Ganbaatar is controlling the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ganbaatar slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Glass is fighting to break Ganbaatar's control of his arms but Ganbaatar is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Glass won't allow Ganbaatar to sweep him here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Ganbaatar pulls Glass in to control the position.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Ganbaatar shoots for a double leg takedown but Glass sprawls well. He's pushed Ganbaatar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Glass moves into the clinch successfully.
Ganbaatar works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Glass is looking for a triangle but Ganbaatar pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Ganbaatar postures up and lands a big shot to Glass's brow. Glass is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Ganbaatar with a flurry of punches that miss. Glass controlling Ganbaatar's posture. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ganbaatar's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ganbaatar cracks Glass with a solid left hand. Ganbaatar working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Ganbaatar scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Glass trying to strike off his back.
Ganbaatar advances position into side control! We've been informed that Ganbaatar has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Ganbaatar working the body and head with strikes. Ganbaatar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Glass keeps working. Ganbaatar scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Glass to see if he's OK. Glass is looking for a sweep. Ganbaatar landing strikes. Glass is being controlled here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Glass taking punishment in the form of punches.
Ganbaatar lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Ganbaatar is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Glass knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Glass is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Ganbaatar working the ground and pound from side control. Ganbaatar working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Ganbaatar in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Glass takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Glass is rocked! Glass is breathing heavily. Ganbaatar scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Glass is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Ganbaatar can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Askaa Ganbaatar! Askaa Ganbaatar decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
