Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sol Dier! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mateuszis Rosiakos! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A punch combination from Dier misses. A shot to the liver by Dier. Beautiful body shot. Rosiakos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dier tries to avoid it but Rosiakos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dier to the ground. Dier escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Rosiakos with a lazy takedown attempt and Dier counters with a nice body shot. Rosiakos uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Dier. Dier gets caught napping as Rosiakos dives in and scores a takedown. Dier manages to retain guard. Rosiakos pushing down on Dier's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Dier manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Rosiakos keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Dier is trying to break free. Dier is trying to push Rosiakos away but Rosiakos has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Rosiakos goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Rosiakos changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Dier fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Sol Dier has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mateuszis Rosiakos. Dier misses with a body shot.
Rosiakos slips under a jab from Dier. Dier misses with an uppercut. Rosiakos saw that one coming. Dier throws a series of strikes that have Rosiakos backpedaling.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dier lands a nice looking body shot.
The fighters circling - Dier throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Rosiakos shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dier as he jumps to the side. Rosiakos fails to land the takedown. Dier jabs Rosiakos to the body, keeping him at a distance. Dier is looking to wear down Rosiakos with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Dier swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Dier misses with a wild body shot. Dier misses with a wild combination.
Jab, jab by Dier - just one landing. Rosiakos fails with the takedown and Dier connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rosiakos shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dier defends it nicely. Dier pounces like a tiger and cracks Rosiakos with a vicious hook! Rosiakos is down but not out! Dier follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Sol Dier! Sol Dier retains his featherweight title!
