PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Deangelo Flagg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and AL Lickertwat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flagg comes to the cage accompanied by What Its Like. On his way into the cage it seems that Deangelo Flagg has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Deangelo Flagg seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Deangelo Flagg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 27 - 1, fighting out of New York, AL Lickertwat!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flagg tests Lickertwat's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Lickertwat shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Flagg is staying active underneath Lickertwat, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lickertwat scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Lickertwat thows a huge punch but Flagg dodges it nicely.
Nice strikes from Lickertwat there.
Lickertwat not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Lickertwat missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Lickertwat is keen to just control but Flagg is a slippery customer.
Lickertwat is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Lickertwat looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Flagg with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Flagg tries to get to full guard but Lickertwat has control of the leg.
Lickertwat working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Lickertwat is thwarting Flagg's attempts to control the position.
Lickertwat has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Flagg moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Lickertwat connects with a couple of short punches.

Flagg is looking for a triangle but Lickertwat pushes his legs off easily.
Lickertwat scoring with some ground and pound.
Flagg working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lickertwat.
Lickertwat throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Lickertwat stopping the sweep attempt from Flagg.
Lickertwat postures up and lands a big shot to Flagg's brow.

Flagg seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Flagg working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lickertwat doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lickertwat manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Flagg controls Lickertwat momentarily but Lickertwat frees himself.

Flagg is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lickertwat defends well.

Flagg is looking for a sweep. Lickertwat is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Flagg wants to get back to full guard but Lickertwat has mounted him!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lickertwat landing strikes from the mount and Flagg is in trouble!


It looks like Deangelo Flagg has been cut.
Flagg is looking to improve his position but Lickertwat isn't that keen on the idea.

Whack. That's a big, big shot from Lickertwat! Flagg is out cold! This one is all over!
