PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gary Sandusky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gary Sandusky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bill Lee!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

so Sandusky counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!
Sandusky postures up.
Sandusky trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sandusky is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Sandusky stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lee swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lee misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Sandusky thinks about countering with a head kick.
Lee misses with a jab, cross combination.
Sandusky definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Sandusky feints and as Lee raises his hands in defense, Sandusky changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sandusky controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Sandusky stands up and waves to Lee to follow him.

Sandusky fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lee sprawls well initially but Sandusky persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Sandusky is thwarting Lee's attempts to control the position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Lee is trying to stand back up but Sandusky is controlling him
Well, if Sandusky is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sandusky connects with a nice short shot to Lee's temple.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sandusky seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lee for as long as he can get away with.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Lee is trying to stand up here but Sandusky is controlling him well.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lee is defended easily by Sandusky.
Sandusky tries to counter by clinching up but Lee breaks away and moves out of range.

Sandusky shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Lee manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Sandusky sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lee's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Sandusky closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sandusky lands in his opponent's guard.
Lee is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Sandusky dives into side control.

We've been informed that Lee has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Sandusky happy to just control the position for now.
Lee can't do much from the bottom here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Sandusky slips into full mount, dodging the strikes by Lee.

Sandusky connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Sandusky lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Gary Sandusky overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sandusky has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Lee is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

That's time! Sandusky's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Sandusky has closed the distance and engaged Lee in a clinch.

Sandusky is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Lee can't fight it off and eventually Sandusky manages to take the fight to the floor. Lee looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Lee pushes Sandusky off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Bill Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gary Sandusky is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Sandusky is trying to drag Lee to the mat but Lee just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Sandusky breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Lee wants to stand and escape but Sandusky is having none of it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Sandusky stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Lee scores with a hook to the body. Sandusky takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lee enables Sandusky to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lee manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Sandusky lands a couple of digs.

Sandusky decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lee, up you get!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sandusky's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well Sandusky has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
