The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petrs shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Chavez sprawls well. Chavez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Petrs gets slowly back to his feet.

Chavez shoots in looking for a takedown but Petrs manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Chavez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chavez throws a body punch but Petrs moves out of range.

Petrs moves out of range as Chavez throws a body kick.
Petrs shoots for a double leg takedown but Chavez sprawls well. He's pushed Petrs's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jaunius Petrs is winning the standup battle so far.
Chavez shoots in and bounces Petrs off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Chavez working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Chavez lands a nice short elbow.
Chavez seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Petrs is rocked!
Chavez wants to work for an arm triangle but Petrs is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Oh Petrs is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Chavez takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Petrs really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Petrs wants to control but Chavez passes into side.
Chavez lands a strong strike to the head of Petrs. That's dazed him! Chavez looking to finish here. Petrs is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Chavez lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
