Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wayde West!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Carl Williamson!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Atkins and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

West instigates a clinch.
A right handed body shot lands from West.

West has picked Williamson up - he's going for a ride! West dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
We've been hearing good reports from West's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Williamson looks winded!

Williamson is defending against the submission attempts here by West.
West seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Williamson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
West trying to mount his opponent but Williamson defends it.
West missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
West thows a huge punch but Williamson dodges it nicely.
Williamson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with West. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

West decides to return to a standing position.

West has taken the fight to the clinch.
West lands a nice elbow from the clinch.


It looks like Carl Williamson has been cut.
West with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

West breaks from the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Williamson slaps away a takedown attempt from West, before circling back to the center of the mat.

West moves into the clinch successfully.

West decides to pull guard.
West wants to stand up but Williamson is controlling him.
West throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Williamson wants to control from the top but West keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Williamson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Williamson won't allow West to get back to his feet.

The fighters are working up against the cage. West manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
West lands with a short head shot on the inside.

West manages to break the clinch.

West gets a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
West is defending well against a takedown attempt.

West breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

West clinches up against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Williamson is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but West is defending well.

West has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Williamson is trying to keep an underhook but West manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Williamson keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. West connects with a nice short shot to Williamson's temple.

West escapes and gets back to his feet.

West gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as West takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

West jumps guard.
West is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Williamson is controlling him.

West has his foot on Williamson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Williamson works his way back into a safe position though.
Williamson stops West from standing up.
Williamson with a flurry of punches that miss.
West lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


That's three minutes gone in the round.

West stands and steps away. Williamson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

West closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
West lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.


That has opened up Carl Williamson's cut even more.
West prevents a takedown attempt there.
Wayde West has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carl Williamson.
West connects with a knee to the head.


The cut above Carl Williamson's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

West's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

West darts in and clinches Williamson up against the cage.
A short uppercut from West.

West breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

West clinches up with Williamson and pushes him back against the cage.

West pulls guard.
West trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
West wants to stand and escape but Williamson is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Williamson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
West trying to strike off his back.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
West is looking to stand up but Williamson isn't so interested in that idea.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Williamson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

West scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
You can see the frustration on Williamson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

West decides to take the fight back to the feet.

West darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

West stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Williamson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has West pinned against the cage. West gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wayde West dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Carl Williamson's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


West shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Williamson as he jumps to the side.

West is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Williamson's half guard.

West stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

West has closed the distance and engaged Williamson in a clinch.
West scores with an uppercut up the middle.
West working the clinch nicely. Williamson is working for position but West cracks him with a big knee to the head! Williamson crumples up against the cage and West lands two more shots before the ref can save Williamson! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knee & Punches). Wayde West!
Wayde West bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
