4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Max Houston! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Joseph Jones and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sigfridsson throws a sloppy head kick and Houston moves out of range easily. Houston let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Houston misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Houston uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Sigfridsson. Max Houston seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Houston throws out a leg kick but Sigfridsson moves out of range and Houston only half commits. Houston takes a swing at Sigfridsson's ribcage but misses. Sigfridsson half committed to a counter leg kick. Sigfridsson scores with a jab to the body. Sigfridsson scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Houston lands a really nice looking cross but Sigfridsson seems unphased.
Sigfridsson ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Houston throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Houston swings and misses with a shot to the body and Sigfridsson counters with a lovely shot to the body. Houston comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Houston throws a right hand that misses
and Sigfridsson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sigfridsson slips a jab and a cross from Houston.

That's one minute gone in the round. Sigfridsson's corner calls for a 1-2. Sigfridsson obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Sigfridsson connects with a jab. Houston on the wrong end of a nice jab. Houston dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Sigfridsson. That did some damage! Good exchange - Sigfridsson coming out on top. Houston feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Sigfridssons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Houston misses the jab. Houston throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Sigfridsson counters with a lovely straight right hand! Nice body kick from Sigfridsson. Sigfridsson fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Houston has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Houston throws the left hand but Sigfridsson avoids the punch easily. A clash of legs there as Sigfridsson blocks the low kick. Sigfridsson drives through and clinches with Houston against the cage.
Houston pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Houston catches Sigfridsson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sigfridsson tries to move into range but Houston moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Sigfridsson tests Houston's chin there with a solid looking shot. It looks like Sigfridsson has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him. Sigfridsson throws a shot from downtown. Houston moves away and avoids it. Sigfridsson thows a left - swing and a miss! Sigfridsson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Houston scores with a body shot.
Houston throws a hook to the side of Sigfridsson's head but Sigfridsson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Sigfridsson was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Houston lands a glancing blow to the side of Sigfridsson's head. A big left from Sigfridsson misses. Sigfridsson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Houston. Sigfridsson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Houston.
Sigfridsson is looking to slow Houston down with leg kicks. Some bone on bone action there as Houston checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Sigfridsson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Houston. Sigfridsson tries a head kick but it misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Houston misses with an uppercut. The fight moves into the clinch position. Houston wants to get back to striking at distance but Sigfridsson won't allow it.
Sigfridsson pushes Houston back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Houston pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Houston thuds a left hand into Sigfridsson's body. Houston swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sigfridsson scores with the left hand. Houston knows he should have avoided that one. Houston throws an off balance right hand
letting Sigfridsson counter with a right hand. A head kick from Houston lands but Sigfridsson takes it in his stride. Houston lands a big head kick that sends Sigfridsson to the canvas! Houston follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Max Houston! After winning the bout, Max Houston thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
