The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marshal misses with a leg kick letting Tappenahomma counter with a right hand.
It looks like Aleksei Marshal has been cut. Marshal smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Tappenahomma misses with a body shot.

I was talking to Tappenahomma's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Marshal dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Tappenahomma seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Marshal misses with a leg kick and Tappenahomma counters with a good, hard body kick but Marshal shrugs it off. Marshal misses with an uppercut. Marshal takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Tappenahomma closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Marshal manages to break the clinch.

Good anti-grappling being displayed by Tappenahomma as Marshal tries to tie him up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Chief Tappenahomma will probably get the nod. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Marshal keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Tappenahomma. Marshal throws a leg kick that is checked and Tappenahomma connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Tappenahomma avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Marshal wants to land a leg kick but Tappenahomma is out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tappenahomma lands a jab to the nose.
Marshal is rocked! Marshal throws a lazy body kick and Tappenahomma counters with a lovely straight right hand! Marshal is still on wobbly legs! Can Tappenahomma finish him? Marshal misses with a left hand and Tappenahomma rattles Marshal with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Marshal tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Tappenahomma dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Marshal stiff and motionless on the mat!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Chief Tappenahomma! Chief Tappenahomma retains his welterweight title! Chief Tappenahomma spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
