Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jose Mera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fatu Tua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tua has chosen Freak on a Leash by Korn as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 17 - 1, fighting out of London, Jose Mera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 45 - 32 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fatu Tua!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mera closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mera lands in his opponent's guard.
Mera pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Tua is keeping the position for now.
Tua manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mera manages to get himself to full guard.

Mera wants to improve his position but instead Tua has moved into half guard.
Tua tries to stand but can't do so whilst Mera controls his leg.

Tua decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A big left from Mera misses.
Tua tries to bum rush Mera with a series of wild strikes but Mera uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Tua looks to land a right hand but Mera moved out of range.
Mera uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Tua.
Tua swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A big left from Tua misses.
Mera feinted with a counter takedown.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mera fails in his attempt to clinch.
A little jabbing left from Tua on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Mera shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Tua connects with a jab.
We've been hearing reports that Mera has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Tua fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Mera is out of range.
Fatu Tua is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Tua lands with a straight right. Mera didn't see that one coming.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
A big left from Tua misses.
Mera takes a jab right on the kisser.
Danga de danga de dang - Mera scores with a four punch combination!
Mera is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Tua keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Mera throws a right and a left that Tua avoids nicely.
Tua takes one on the button.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mera misses with a double jab
letting Tua counter with a right hand.

Tua cracks Mera with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Tua has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Mera to stand back up!


Mera is rocked!
Mera will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Oh Mera is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mera dives in for a single leg takedown but Tua sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jose Mera. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tua lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mera circles away quickly and effectively.
Mera connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Tua momentarily.
Tua scores with a decent looking hook.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
BAM! Tua delivers a spinning backfist that drops Mera like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:06 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Spinning Backfist). Fatu Tua!
Fatu Tua spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
