Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dmitry Boitsov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kid Unknown!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Donald Grub and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boitsov throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Boitsov closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Unknown's guard.
Unknown is looking to stand up but Boitsov isn't so interested in that idea.

Boitsov drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Boitsov jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Boitsov postures up in Unknown's guard and throws a big left but Unknown blocks it.
Unknown is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Boitsov is controlling him.
Unknown told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Boitsov trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Boitsov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Boitsov drops back looking for a leg! Unknown is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Unknown manages to kick Boitsov off! Boitsov jumps back into Unknown's guard.

Boitsov thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Unknown really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Boitsov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Unknown is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Unknown can't keep his opponent in guard - Boitsov advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Boitsov is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

It looks like Kid Unknown has been cut.
Boitsov wants to take Unknown's back but he can't do it this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Boitsov landing strikes from the mount.
Boitsov wants to control the pace but Unknown is squirming around nicely.
Boitsov misses with some ground and pound and Unknown recovers position to half guard.
Boitsov content to control rather than advance.
Boitsov wants to take a breather but Unknown is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Boitsov looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Boitsov is trying to control. Unknown wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Boitsov in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Unknown tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Boitsov!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dmitry Boitsov!
After the fight, Dmitry Boitsov was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
