Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Emmitt Mcdowell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tony Dunham! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Jonathan Paton and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dunham just misses with a punch to the body.
Dunham swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Dunham misses with a right hand and Mcdowell counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Mcdowell. Dunham preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Mcdowell has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Dunham preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mcdowell throws an elbow that misses. Dunham uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mcdowell's guard. Nice move by Dunham! Mcdowell is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Dunham is controlling him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dunham wants to stand but Mcdowell has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Mcdowell looking to control.
Mcdowell thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dunham decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Dunham scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
It looks like Emmitt Mcdowell has been cut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Dunham feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Mcdowell sprawling to the canvas! Mcdowell rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Dunham finish him?!
Mcdowell is rocked! Dunham fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Mcdowell square on the jaw! Damn, Mcdowell is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Tony Dunham!
