PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Finn James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Remy Lacroix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Remy Lacroix!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Daniel Bishop and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James defending well as Lacroix loads up on a big left hand.
Sloppy strikes from Lacroix. Those never looked like landing.

James drives through with a takedown into Lacroix's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Lacroix really doesn't want to stay on the ground with James. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
James wanted to stand there but Lacroix had control of the position.
James stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lacroix swivels though and keeps the full guard.
James slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Lacroix is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst James is controlling him.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lacroix enables James to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lacroix manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Lacroix holds on and takes a little breather.
Lacroix wants to get back to his feet but James is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

James drops his hands momentarily and Lacroix takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Lacroix lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Lacroix connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
James walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
James tries to move into range but Lacroix moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

James uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lacroix.

Lacroix throws the left hand but James avoids the punch easily.
James ducks under a wild hook from Lacroix.

James is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Lacroix's half guard.

James seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lacroix for as long as he can get away with.

James manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Lacroix on his heels. He'll look to pass Lacroix's guard now, I'm sure.

Remy Lacroix seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

James jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lacroix walks away with a smile on his face. James gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
James tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lacroix sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten James somewhat.

Lacroix throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lacroix lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

James takes one on the button.
Lacroix moves into range and connects with a jab.
James takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Lacroix darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
James uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lacroix.

Lacroix scores with a jab. James acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
James moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
James tries to close the distance and clinch but Lacroix swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Lacroix connects with a good right hand that stumbles James. James circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Lacroix throws a lazy right hand but James sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Remy Lacroix comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Lacroix has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
