Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carmine Salas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rey Hanibal!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salas lands with a shot to the body.
Hanibal dives in for a single leg takedown but Salas sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Salas misses with a series of wild punches.
Salas tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hanibal was well out of range. Poor timing from Salas.
Salas closes the distance and pushes Hanibal back into the cage.
Salas pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Salas misses with a straight right.
Hanibal with the counter takedown but Salas avoids it easily.
Hanibal tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Salas counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hanibal won't be happy with that.
Salas really is a fat lump.
Salas working the ground and pound from side control.
Hanibal tries to buck Salas off but Salas is having none of it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Salas tries for a kimura but Hanibal is defending well.
Salas thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Salas decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Hanibal drives through and clinches with Salas against the cage.
Salas manages to break the clinch.
Salas avoids the head kick by Hanibal.
Salas pushes Hanibal up against the cage in a clinch.
Salas breaks the clinch.
Hanibal fails with a takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Salas pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hanibal is defended easily by Salas.
Carmine Salas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rey Hanibal.
Hanibal tries to close the distance and clinch up but Salas swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Salas looking to score a takedown here. Hanibal is defending well but Salas drives through and ends up in Hanibal's guard.
Hanibal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Salas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Salas lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Hanibal has momentary wrist control but Salas slips an elbow through the middle.
Hanibal looks winded!
Salas lands a couple of digs.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Salas is in close to Hanibal's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Salas would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Salas scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Salas decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Salas tries a head kick but it misses.
Hanibal wants to clinch.
Salas forces Hanibal back against the cage and clinches.
Salas breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The fighters circling - Salas throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hanibal shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Salas as he avoids it easily.
Hanibal uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Salas.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hanibal is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Nice takedown defense from Salas. No joy for Hanibal on that attempt.
A lazy left from Salas finds it's target.
Salas shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Salas seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Hanibal is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
